In today's video, I am going to be helping you guys out with your warped vinyl with a quick and easy fix to get them flat and playable once more!

Oven settings: 80 degrees Celsius. 175 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes

Something big and heavy, I used a big off cut of wood but a couple of large books will do just as well.
An oven to heat the record. (Preheat oven to 80 degrees Celsius. 175 degrees Fahrenheit )
Something to clean the Record with.
And Finally, the bent record its self.

I did exactly what you told on my very warped Beatles, Revolver lp, and now the record lays perfectly flat on the turntable. It`s a very rare Beatles lp, made in Norway. And i am of course very happy you showed me this easy way to fix it. Thank you very much:-)

What do you recommend for sauces? Eating the vinyl on it's own looks a bit bland.

My heart dropped when you said to preheat the oven

Thank for the great video. I don't think the average person realizes the time and energy it takes to create a video, as well as the courage to put yourself on the internet. I was about to call it quits on an otherwise perfect Led Zeppelin ZOSO record; now I can cure it! Cheers, mate.

"Well set the timer to ten minutes" *comes back and there's no grooves 😂

I was told of this method by an Audiophile back in the late 1980's. It works, done properly and with patience. Sound is not affected.

I've straightened them using solar power. I used two pieces of thicker glass. The top piece supplied the weight. A few minutes were needed. I carefully carried the glass and LP into the house to cool. After a while, I took off the top piece of glass. The previously warped LP was now perfectly flat. It played fine.

Totally worked for me. My copy of Joy Division Unknown Pleasures had been given to me by a friend that left it in her car for 4 months. It had a nasty bit of warping right in one spot on the edge. I believe it's 180 gram copy. If you have a cheap thin record then maybe 10 minutes might be too long but for this one it worked perfect. Thanks for sharing.

i wouldnt put it in the oven at all, just sit it between two pieces of glass and put a stack of books or something heavy on top and leave it to sit for a few weeks.. always works for me.

You didn't actually play the record once you got the warp out. I suspect throwing it in an oven like that does more damage to the actual grooves.

I know my comment is late but 80°C could likely start melting the grooves---technique is OK but 60°C would be a lot safer and the time element can always be increased or process repeated to avoid such potential damage.

this process might work but everyone PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOUR RECORDS IN FOR 10 MINUTES. I left mine in for 5 minutes and it was unplayable, the record grooves were flattened and compromized. I think leaving it in for maybe 3 1/2 or 4 minutes at most might work but 10 minutes is crazy... dont do it!

I used some glass shelves from IKEA made for the Kallax, they are heavy and fit a 12 inch record perfectly. I had a 10" record that was badly warped from being left in the car. I put it between the glass and into a 175 degree oven (the lowest my oven can go) for about 10 minutes. I then took it out and put something heavy on top and let it cool for a few hours. It didn't work. I did it again but this time left it in for 45 minutes. After cooling the record still has a *slight* warp, but plays perfectly. No melted grooves, no issues with the stylus tracking. This method works perfectly. Plus, if a record is so warped it doesn't play properly, what do you have to lose?

*Dad come home and sees his records are in the oven*

You know how the rest of this story goes.

I've done this and melted one record, the times where the record hasn't melted the record remained warped. It seems there's a very fine line between having enough heat to actually make the vinyl pliable and not enough that it just remains the same shape once cooled. Very fine line that's very tricky to find and can be very costly to.

Have been doing similar method for 30 odd years.
Works every Time.
But please folks never put the disc in the oven, NEVER!!
It compromises the groove this the sound.
Put the disc between warm glass & leave for 2hours.Perfect!

Fantastic thanks just tried this myself and it worked so well. A £30 vinyl LP saved. Was a little worried before but no damage to the vinyl at all. Thanks for a great tip.
