No power to Honeywell thermostat? Here's a fix.

I had no power to my Honeywell VisionPro IAQ thermostat. The fix was way easier than I thought. Saved me a bunch of money.

I couldn't find a solution anywhere online for this particular type with no batteries. So, when I figured it out, I decided to make this really short video showing what I found to be wrong with it.

My thermostat stopped working this morning and it’s -38!! I would never have thought that our Honeywell thermostat was out of batteries but all it took was 2 doubleAs and we were back in business! Thanks for your video!

Thank God you made this video. My AC has been acting up and I couldn’t freaking figure it out until you showed me this video. I unclogged the damn thing and my AC works perfect. You’re the man.

You saved my life, I am eternally grateful and will follow your page for the rest of my life. I could not figure out the issue was so I turned to YouTube. Skipped a few post because most YouTubers talk too damn much and play all kinda nonsense before they get to the meat and potatoes. Stumbled onto your post and you got str8 to the point. My handler is in the attic so I never even saw it before, much less serviced it since I bought my home in 2021. I climbed my fat ass in that attic to discover a horror show. The pan was literally full and almost running over. Never mind the algae., there were things in that pan that I cannot unsee., and I was a Homicide Detective Sergeant at one time in my career. Needless to say, I took a wet dry vac up there and cleaned it all up then blew out the drain. Worked like a charm. An ac person would have charged me hundreds of dollars to do what I did. You just charged me your time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Be blessed man.

Okay so as a not very handy tech woman I was trying to solve this on my own at our house and way before my husband could call someone I said I fixed it! I watched someone on YouTube have the same problem and I fixed it! No one believed it was me but thank you

Thank you so much for putting this video up many years ago. It helped me today! Except ours was setup with a float switch. Pumped and scooped water out as fast as I could, A/C turned right back on! I was the hero tonight, not the emergency HVAC people.

Thank You much! You literally just saved me at least $100 in a service call to my house! This fixed my problem instantly. My problem was a little different in that I don't have pump, just a pan under my air handler in the attic, but I manually drained the water using a garden hose and this emptied the pan enough to not trigger the switch that cuts the entire heating/air system off. Thanks a million man!

Your video saved me a ton...thanks. Mine was slightly different, the other end of my hose that comes from the condensate pump was plugged, preventing the water from moving. Removed the
shmutz and voila the system started again.

7 years later and this is still valid! My power went out and apparently it did trip all the GFCI outlets. And I always forget this one! Reset it and I’m back in business.

Never would have suspected the tripped sump… i tried new thermostat but wasn’t getting power (hard to determine without voltmeter if its battery backed). And indeed the sump was tripped and immediate fix.
Great simple and direct video!

Exactly the problem. Thermostat hasn’t worked for 2 days and this led me right to where I needed to be. Thank you for saving my carpet and drywall

Here 5 years later to say thank you for posting this. Everywhere I checked said to replace the batteries but my unit does not use batteries. This was my exact problem and your video help me fix it instantly. Thank you again

Thank you so much! This saved me so much money and the embarrassment from calling a technician and them to just flip a switch.

I came across this video today and it saved us from cold. Though not exactly my case but seeing from yiur video that the thermostat use batteries took me to my thermostat and behold it has batteries and I decided to start from the batteries. I replaced the dead ones and immediately the numbers came up on the thermostat screen! I put everything back together and that was it! The heat came back on! Hallelujah! Thank you, Chris, for your helpful video.👍👍

Jesus you just saved me too. I replaced the battery first, which did nothing. Double checked the breakers. Then called hvac repair and they were booked for the day. Next, found this video and went downstairs to trouble shoot. Pump wasn't full but the GFI was tripped on the outlet to the a/c. Eyes rolled, but im thankful thats all it was.

I made all the checked points mentioned in your video. I went cuckoo. I couldn't find what was going on to turn off my Honeywell Thermostat until I saw your video. Thanks a million. There's a pan to catch all drips overcapacity and turn off the system. It was not a problem decades ago to get into our crawl space with a bucket. Since bending to get under the tubes and HVAC ducts is now a challenge, the problem is not done yet, only temporary relief until it gets full again. I'm ordering a utility pump. Thank you again.

I had a similar situation after a power outage, I checked all the obvious stuff too. It turned out to be the pump!!! As soon as I reset it and cleared the line, the unit turned back on!! Thank you!

Thank you so much. I’ve never seen a thermostat just go completely blank like that. We were about to call an AC professional to come take a look - like you say $200+. The float switch was engaged and the pan and drain pipe just needed to be cleaned out. Easy job and took 10 mins - as soon as it was clean the float switch went back down and the thermostat came back on and fired up the A/C. Really appreciate your video - thank you for sharing and educating.
