Rest In Peace.
She was an amazing editor for Quentin for decades, and she made films look amazing because of her skills.

Editing was traditionally a woman's job in Hollywood because the film reels would have to be be cut and pieced together with precise and delicate hands.

After Sally’s death his films didn’t feel the same, to me personally…

Sally passed away in 2010. May such a wonderful filmmaker rest in piece.

And yes, I said filmmaker, because never forget, all cinematic projects have three different movies:

The screenwriter's
The director's
and The editor's

Literally, ever since she passed his movies have been longer and longer. You can tell she was good at cutting the fat.

I loved the outtakes from Deathproof, where the actors would suddenly turn towards the camera waving, yelling "Hi Sally!!" 👋😄

R.I.P. Sally. She just went for a hike, and ended up dying. What a shame that was.

Sally really was the secret weapon behind his classic films. Hasn't been the same since.

What a great loss Sally Menke was. A truly brilliant editor. And in case this doesn’t tell you the high regard that Quentin Tarantino had for her, check out the end credits of Inglourious Basterds, where her credit directly follows his. Not sure any editor has ever had that kind of billing.

Tarantino sounds like a Chinese chef I used to work with and spoke no English whatsoever.

There’s a clear shift in his films once she passed. Not as bad, but they definitely lost the narrative tightness, whereas Django and Once Upon a Time felt like “hangout” period films. Props to her- some of the most iconic films cut by her 🙏🏻
