Do we remember “Nehemiah the Wall Builder, ” or is he “Nehemiah, the man who trusted the Lord”? The story of building the wall with such adversity is built on Nehemiah continually seeking God’s help, fasting, and praying, and his wariness of the enemy’s plots and his faithfulness to God for protection. Even God’s enemies knew that “this work was done with the help of our God” (Neh 6:12). A couple days ago, my brother -in-law’s father passed away, and in the obituary that my sister wrote, she emphasized his faith, his gentle demeanor, his care for the flock as a chaplain and pastor. And when I think of my grandfather who died over 20 years ago, I’ll never forget the way he worshiped, raising his hands toward Heaven, singing the Lord’s Prayer. God wants His servants to be remembered not for what they built, but for Whom they lived, and the humble and wise spirit that He gave them.

My God Shot again today, was Nehemiahs praying. God wants us to come to Him in prayer! Fear can lead us to do things quickly or drastically without consulting with God. But when we take time to pause in prayer and wait on God, we KNOW He will work together a solution far better than anything we can do without asking and waiting on Him.

"They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.” Nehemiah 6:9 NIV

Waiting is so hard, but if we don't simply wait, doing nothing, but turn the waiting period into a growth period where we lean more onto and into God and His Word, we will grow as Christians. God will give us peace and the discernment we need in our World.

I see here how God is doing the revealing and helping Nehemiah make wise choices because Nehemiah is sure to seek God wheh he's questioning what he should do. So often, I may get that discernment and gut check, but I tend to lean on my own understanding or seek a friend to help me process, but I forget to take it back to Him. Why?! Oh my human weakness is so grand.

No arrogance or false humility, rather confident humility looking to God as the source of strength, direction and discernment. What a great example Nehemiah lives out. I pray to be more mindful of seeking His will in all circumstances.

One of my God shots today is in the list of all the returning exiles. All those family names and numbers are people that God created and knew intimately, just like me. And while to me they are OT names and numbers, to God they are His precious children. He knew their struggles, delighted in them, counted the hairs on their heads, and was sovereign over every moment that unfolded in their lives. I can barely keep my own life straight - but He can do it all, for everyone, continuously over time. He is so loving, so caring, and draws near to us all. I love you Yahweh. 🤍

“But I replied, “Should someone in my position run from danger? Should someone in my position enter the Temple to save his life? No, I won’t do it!””
‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love how the drive, determination, and holy discernment that God bless Nehemiah with, ultimately ended with him avoiding the tricks of his enemies. God bless y’all.

God gave Nehemiah wisdom to discern the opposition to the rebuilding. God gave him the knowledge that men were scheming against him to harm him (Neh 6:3) and the realization that a false prophet was hired to intimidate him (Neh 6:12). Nehemiah knew they were trying to frighten him into stopping the rebuilding (Neh 6:9) and this knowledge came from God. Our God gives wisdom, discernment, and knowledge.

The sound on this video was extremely low. I’ve noticed this on a handful of the videos this trip though the Bible. Hope they get this fixed by the next go round.

I wish there was a way to "disagree" without causing dissention. That is not my intent. I love TBR and TLC. This is my 2nd time through entire Bible and soon to be my 3rd time through the NT.
I have to take issue with the stereotypical depiction of the rebellious Harley rider taunting Nehemiah. Both of my brothers have been Harley men. But more importantly, they have been Godly men who happen to enjoy riding Harleys. They have participated in the "Thunder" ride (forgive me for not knowing exact names) for veterans and the 911 Memorial rides. They both married their HS sweethearts, still married 47 years later. Parents to 2 children each...Grandparents to 8 living grandchildren each; one also has a ninth grandchild who is in Heaven, born prematurely. They are Godly men, sons, husbands, fathers, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, and friends. AND they ride Harleys.
As Christians, Believers in the ONE Who came to seek and save those who are lost, let's not forget that is ALL OF US! Not just the stereotypical bad guys. ❤
