I am so thankful that God never gives up on us! It gives me hope that He hasn't given up on my family of prodigals. I pray for them to know "He's where the joy is!" 😀

As I was reading through chapter 9, I began circling all the the things God has done over the years to provide. I had to read slowly or I'd miss something because there were so many things! And then, after several things Ezra lists that He provided, it was followed by a "But they... forgot, were stiff necked, disobedient, rebelled, arrogant, refused to obey, stubborn, sinful, etc." However, it continues to remind us of His compassion every-single-time! He didn't give up on them.

I'm so glad I can rest in the knowledge that He is everlasting and unchanging. If He never gave up on them, then He won't give up on me! I can get down in the dumps about awful I've treated Him and how quickly I, too, become stubborn and arrogant, but praise HIM for loving me anyway! "In your abundant compassion, you did not destroy them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and compassionate God." (9:31)

Praise You Lord! You allow me to come back to you time and time again, after every set back and all of my failures. Thank you! Thank you for being my rescuer and my redeemer. I have nothing fancy to give back to you, but please take my heart and make it more like yours! I search for yours, God. Lead me, God, and let me stay focused on you!

In His powerful name, Jesus, I pray, amen!

Thank you BR family for studying along with me. We have almost made it through the OT and I fall more and more in love with Him and grow more in awe of Him with each read. ❤

I love that as the Word was read to the people, God did not just leave it up to the people to understand on their own. Instead he provided them with the Tara Leigh Cobbles of that day to guide the people with their own Bible Recaps. He is a faithful and good provider of everything we need and so much more and He is absolutely where the joy is!🙏We appreciate you TLC!!

Is there a greater prayer in the whole OT? Even Solomon’s prayer of Temple dedication focused on his own dedication and works and majesty, but the prayer of the Levites in Neh 9 sums up the whole relationship between the patient, merciful, powerful, redemptive Lord and His people. At last, we see God’s people broken for their sins, weeping so much that they need to be reminded that “the joy of the Lord is their strength” (Neh 8:10). God is a God of joy—not judgment and retribution—but joy, and knowing Him and Who He has been and will be in our lives brings joy and joy brings strength! I’m then not weighed down by regret or fear of things beyond my control. When the enemy attacks with worry at all that’s going wrong, “the joy of the Lord is my strength”: look at all He’s done, and He never changes or leaves us.

As TLC was reading through the "verbs" of what God has done for His people, I was struck by the servants heart He displays- God brought them food, water, shelter, etc. Our God is so so good❤

The realization that God never gave up on me is so very apparent. So grateful he was always running after me when is was rebelling and living in the world. 🙏🏼

Our God is a Promise Keeper because He is righteous (Neh 9:8). He is "a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love" (Neh 9:17). He does not abandon us because of his great compassion, grace, and mercy (Neh 9:19, 31). In His compassion He delivers us time after time (Neh 9:29). Hallelujah and praise God! 🙌🏽

In 2023, The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) begins at sundown on Friday the 29th. It lasts for a whole week, and we’re gonna be building an awesome fort (Suka)with our grandsons😊
It seems that all of the appointed days (moedim) are very family oriented.
I praise God that we “get to observe His appointed days, just like we “get to go to the assembly (church).
What a mighty God, we serve!

It was an emotionally moving experience to walk through Ez 9, recounting (yes, that’s 43 verbs TLC highlighted!) the way His mercies never cease and His steadfast love endures forever! It makes me want to record my family’s journey, from joy to death to hope restored. And then Ez 10 tells how this wasn’t just emotion, but a time for action. It challenges me to record my response and commitment to His steadfast love.
