Georgiy Daneliya’s famous comedy is a kind, funny, and at the same time a sad story about a hopeless plumber Afanasy ‘Afonya’ Borshchov, who fills his life with dubious ”exploits,“ new acquaintances, and booze. Although Afonya has no respect for work, his coworkers and Katya, a girl in love with him, hope that Afanasy will change for the better. After all, he’s not doing anything wrong - he’s just being indifferent. Can anything spark his seemingly dormant heart?

I have to admit - The first time I watched this film about 2 years ago, I didn't really value it that much. I came back to it recently and it has certainly grown on me. Has become one of my favourite movies now. A really pleasant difference in pace and lifestyle in comparison to Hollywood and such. Thank you for the English subtitles which enable us to watch these great films, MOSFILM!
