What a delightful film- full of humanity, gentle and sometimes slapstick humor. A real gem. Soviet films were so unknown or unrated and yet have great soul and depth- a heck of a lot better than the mindless crap coming out of Hollywood today. Thank you for posting this.

Personally, I believe Soviet cinema to be indeed extremely underrated, although in comparison to most Hollywood movies (let alone modern chewing gum for the brain like the Marvel ones), it's way subtler, more intelligent and humane. Not arguing Hollywood does not have its masterpieces of cinema, of course it does, but the overwhelming majority of the movies it's made/making cannot really hold up to comparison. I mean, Soviet movies are also not all perfect, but the above applies to the majority of them (at least to the dozens/hundreds of them one can find on the Mosfilm YouTube channel). Not defending the Soviet Union itself, just talking about the cinema.
