I “gave up” TikTok after 5PM for lent and have been spending my time doing “slower” activities. Cooking, crocheting, and reading. And I’ve felt more content and fulfilled than I have in years.

We are just on the same wave length LOL I feel the same. I feel like long form content gives a sense of community and truly "clicking" with creators. Short form content just doesn't give me that same connection or comfort. If anything I find short form content, especially Tiktok so detrimental to my mental health. It's always pushing a random supplement, trying to diagnose you etc

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I feel like because there is such an overwhelming amount of information being thrown at us that it’s so easy to get wrong information and that has made us so divided. I think that because social media so overwhelming right now that a lot of people have forgotten to be kind towards each other. It’s very sad.

Tik Tok isn't for me either. It moves way too fast which gives me an immediate headache. The last time I got on there I scrolled past at LEAST five different live feeds of super suggestive women doin basically nothing but having sex with the camera. No. It's a no for me.

Explained it perfectly!!! The standards of quality has declined so much. I watched one short where the entire video was " I wonder what's in this box??". Opened the box and it was a halloween mask and some rope. (what a waste of my time!!!) No creativity at all. Just regurgitating content as you said. I have a tiny YouTube channel and I try so hard to give the viewer worthwhile content and possibly a break from the troubles of life. Well said Rene....well said....

I HATE shorts & tiktok can’t help it I want long form content I deleted tiktok and if I could I would get rid of shorts & reels because going down those rabbit holes are dangerous and kills good habits I need more time to settle with it which is why a stay here with you x
I only use IG, YT and LinkedIn these days and I have notifications switched off so I decide when to watch things nothing like have some semblance of control.

Girl you keep pointing out what I’ve been dealing with lately. I don’t like short content, I made some content on tiktok just because it takes less time for me to create them but FOR SURE I’m coming to Youtube with a channel to my name. It’s not even fun to create short content let alone consuming it.

I miss when Instagram used to be a photo platform! I don’t watch that many stories on my feed because they take too much time and are usually pointless. Someone asked me once why I stopped watching their stories 🥴

I fell like short form content should’ve stayed exclusively on tiktok, but all the time other social media platforms copy each other. Instagram sees short form doing well on tiktok so they copy it and push it. Then YouTube and Facebook followed. It’s the same thing that happened with stories. It succeeded on one app so the others all had to copy and push it, rather than focusing on what their app does best.

I wish tiktok could just be short form, youtube could stay long form, Instagram could be photos.
