Sensi 2 Thermostat is ON THE WAY!

I was recently notified that the Sensi 2 Thermostat is on the way! It is set to be launching October 2022. In this video, we show pictures of it and talk about some of the highlights. For lovers of the first Sensi thermostat, they will notice that the look is somewhat similar with the Sensi 2. However, capabilities of room sensors and a slimmer profile are among its other strengths making this thermostat one of the go-to thermostats on the market!

The company I work for sells the Sensi 1. I've replaced a lot of them that were only a few days old.

My Sensi WiFi Touch (2019 version) does not annunciate Aux / Em Heat usage when the thermostat is in either Auto or Heat Mode. So, in winter if your outdoor Heat Pump decides to stop running for any reason (mine had a loose control wire!), then the Aux heat strips (3000W) turn on and our house stayed very comfortable. So thanks to my Sensi, no one in our household noticed anything wrong! The Sensi was happy as could be in Auto Mode, the temp was right on 72 degrees (outside was 39) and we were all happy inside. Until 3 weeks later our local power company sent us a letter! The letter was a Warning that our electrical Power Usage had increased higher than ever before in the 30 years we have lived in the house. They recommended that we check for open windows or doors, extra electrical loads, etc. We were all puzzled and very worried since our electrical bill was about $150 higher than ever before. I checked the Sensi thermostat, it showed that everything was fine - no warning, no Aux Heating LEDs or other screen warning and no Warning emails from Sensi "Your heat Pump has turned off" or maybe "Your Aux Heat usage is extremely high". What a dumb thermostat. I really wonder if this new Sensi 2 has fixed this huge oversight in design. I also wonder if they will give me a new thermostat to help compensate for the huge electric bill. A neighbor told me that his thermostat has a bright red LED that shines whenever, for whatever reason, the Aux/Em heat is on. That $0.25 LED would have saved me $150.

Will this be an option for a new inverter variable speed systems like in the Trane line? I think they have their own communicating thermostat. Or is this only for single and 2 stage systems? Also, won’t their room sensors going to need a zoned system to prioritize where the air goes?

What about sensing I’d you left the home, will it go into Away mode temp setting?
I want a smart thermostat that will do that correct.

question .... I switched out my Ecobee thermostat to a Emerson sense touch and not sure where to connect the two wires to work my humidifier ?? They were connected to the ACC+ and the ACC- on my Ecobee but don't know where to connect them on the sense touch. Thanks for your help!!!

Need advice if you don’t mind. Located in Raleigh nc. York gas pack is dead and getting quotes. 2, 000sqft ranch with vaulted ceilings. Have natural gas. Consider two stage trane. Any thoughts on a specific model? I was quoted $11, 250 for a 16 seer 2 stage trane. Any other brands I should consider? Also if I do this should I get the trane thermostat?

Would you happen to know how accurate the humidity level readings are with the current Sensi thermostat? Comments from anyone reading this would be appreciated.
