After having so many sudden and violent deaths, seeing Zagreus gently slip away into the Styx just hit different

I just love how the game is fundamentally about a dude who goes through hell again and again just because he wants to spend a few more minutes with his mama

A little detail I love is how after your first run you can only walk from where you battled it out with Father to the garden where she is, as if Zagreus needs time to take it all in: the surface, the sunrise, and those precious moments before reuniting with her. And after your second run you can sprint to her lmao

2:45 really captures the fleeting of time, the temporary, the longing sweet encounter of Zagreus and his mother.

1st escape: "Mother? Is that you?" "Oh my God, I thought you were dead! This changes everthing!" "We have so much catching up to do! Huh, no, I'm fading away! However long it takes..."

40th escape: "Zagreus stepped on a rake and died, lol" "Oops I died, lol"

SPOILERS

The first time Zagreus sees the sun, that profound innocence before he even realizes what waits for him just beyond the coast. It's the moment this game goes from an excellent roguelike to a once in a lifetime game experience.

Who also took a screenshot of Zagreus seeing the sun for the first time ?

You know I've put over 50 hours into this game. Getting to really see her for the first time, I cried.

2:45-3:21 is the section that nearly drove me to tears when I first heard it

This song is absolutely gorgeous. Please forgive the gushing here but... *minor spoilers*
After so many attempts to find her. After hearing so much, after doubting if you will find her... you arrive at the frozen coast of Greece. A beautiful sunrise the likes of which Zagreus has only dreamed, the whimsical search as you follow the directions given by Nyx... through the frozen fields you see greenery. You see a home. You see her.
And then, you start getting weak. You've only just reunited, but the cruel fates drag you away. The song slowly fades as you give her a promise. To return. To fight through hell again, just for a few more moments with your mother.
What a powerful moment. What an incredible way to merge gameplay, story, and music, all into one scene.
Everything about this moment is beautiful. Thank you, Supergiant. Thank you, Darren Korb.

The house contractor describes this song as “an exotic piece that uses instruments from the surface world.” This implies that they have electric guitars and drum sets in the underworld

2:45 makes every single moment spent struggling to get to the surface worth it

This, combined with the art, and the feeling of catching a Bass, and seeing the sun for the first time.

It hit me in the heart.

making the melodic part at the end loop in game despite it not repeating in the actual soundtrack is a cruel ass way to reflect how such a fleeting moment seems to last forever when youre there

How is it possible for one game to have this diverse of music, it all being drastically different and still make it all work. All the new songs added are just superb.

Ugh from 2:45 onwards... it has such a bittersweet ring to it and it just fucking hits the spot. It goes so perfectly with you meeting her for the first time after climbing numerous chambers and dying countless times just to get to her... yet you only have a couple of moments to spare with her. Towards the end of this piece... it almost sounds / feels like a "I'll die as many times as it takes to see you again, mother" and that's so heart wrenching, gdi.

I thought getting to see her on the surface would mean the end of the game but little did I know that it would just be the beginning... this game and the soundtrack is fucking amazing.

You did it again, Supergiant (and Darren Korb!) <3

This song starts out so uncertain, almost foreboding. Zag is unsure, he doesn't know what to expect- might even be scared but he needs to press on. To find out.

The song continues to bloom, keeping the air of uncertainty but adding a subtle beauty. And by the end of the song, for the last 30 seconds you hear the briefest, most beautiful part. It's short, like Zag's time with his mother. You want to keep coming back- you need to keep coming back just to hear that song one last time. Just. Like. Zag

The last 40s are just a tribute to love and hope, actually made me cry a bit at the end dialogue

I've never been more motivated to beat a boss over and over again. All just to talk with mom, a little each time. That drive to see her again didn't ebb till she came home... Then it was private sparing lessons with dad.
