I was curious so I looked it up:

E. coli isn’t more common specifically on romaine lettuce, the reason it keeps showing up there is because you don’t cook lettuce. E. coli can easily show up on any vegetable, but as long as you cook them the bacteria will die. The same goes for salmonella poisoning from vegetables. Washing them doesn’t remove the bacteria, so any vegetable you eat raw has the potential to make you sick, if it’s been contaminated. So that’s fun.

Vegetables: it's a culinary term so it can be literally anything people agree if it's a vegetable or not

Which means that tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers, and cucumbers are all scientifically fruits.
