I'll do this ALOT in Drop D and use the low D as the drone. Especially in an ambient setting with lots of shimmering reverb. It's amazing.

Pretty cool. You could also use some nice verb to get close and double track the same part but add an effect for the recording. Sometimes I will ascend on one string through the scale for track #2.

That's so funny! For wind and brass students, range/accuracy drills like this are super common, and passages like this come up in repertoire all the time so the idea of these rooted arpeggios is always floating around my stuff on guitar

Never occurred to me that it would a novel pattern to people who haven't played thousands of hours of wind fundamentals xD
