What if the starting value is zero? (Or should the count of day/time start when the value is not zero anymore?)

What if I’m doing it in a decimal point? For example
(Starting value is .016) and (Ending value is .16) I got 90% growth but I think I’m wrong

Question? what about if I am calculation profits and my previous year was a lost (negative numbers) and my current year is a positive number. Ex: Year 2020 $-465 lost; Year 2021 $200 gain. When use the formula, I am getting a negative growth rate
