As an evangelical pastor I am seeing this happening all over in the pastoral ranks. There is pressure on conservative pastors not to be "political", or to just shut up. While progressive pastors won't shut up. Conservatives are kind and often will shut up for sake of the "gospel." Progressives are not kind and to them "progressive" politics is their gospel. And as they say, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." And let me tell you, this kind of message is working while the silent conservative Christians are being painted into a corner of silence and weakness.

I was at a church that was gutted from the inside by liberalism and collapsed in on itself like a dying star before scandal put the nail in the coffin. Willow Creek Community Church in chicagoland illinois.

All of a sudden it was all about brokering peace with palestine, then it was about elevating females to leadership and diversity in the complexion of leadership and doing struggle sessions in the section retreat I attended.

It stopped being about merit and decent theology and became about money and politics. It truely was a tragedy because they had such excellent charity functions present in the body of the church.

I think having Melinda gates at the leadership conference talk about how we needed to spread birth control and abortion (though she stopped herself from using that word, and she said she couldn't talk about everything they were doing...) to the developing world to liberate women should have been the sign things were not about God. I think she used the term "reproductive freedom" and we know what that means.

How a pro life church can have the worlds largest abortion funder (dwarfing planned parenthood) speaking at a leadership conference in the name of women's liberation... it was damned in that moment.

Rick Warren was my pastor for a long time, until the lockdowns and vaccine mandates. I was too embarrassed to invite friends to church. I knew at that moment that I had to leave.

I came out of hiding for this, because she slandered in poor faith a great orthodox evangelical Christian as the opening act of her book. I heard this and I... borrowed the book online. It's obvious she didn't even listen to His argument or research his background and YouTube history. This man, though not publicly political, is obviously conservative. He is more importantly historicaly Christian. Do your research Klavan underlings, its not a side bar, its the opening chapter; vet your sources. She needs to publicly apologize and redact her book, poor research does not deserve publishing.

Going to add more here to the sea of voices with how she represented Ortlund. I am saddened that people in the comments are more worried about a political witch hunt than they are about truth. Blowing off her clear misrepresentation of Gavin saying it doesn't matter because her other work is good. We have to be better than this.

Here's Gavin Ortlund (one of the pastors she talks about in the book) responding to this book. He makes a pretty good cut and dried case that she completely misrepresented him. Receipts included. The thesis of the book may be completely valid. But at least where he is concerned, it's pretty clear there's at least a lack of research.

Megan introduced her book targeting Dr. Gavin Ortlund as some left-wing, borderline heretic. I highly recommend people watch his response video before walking away with a false misrepresentation of him. Regrettably, I believe that portion of her book was very poorly done and I think we ought to be cautious in how we handle these matters instead of eating our own simply because they disagree with us on some very minor issues, not fundamental ones.

I am a subscriber to one of the people she talks about in her book. And it seems like she blatantly misrepresents what he says in it. Gavin Ortlund of Truth Unites put out two videos responding to Megan and the book and the subsequent tweets and stuff actively endeavoring to tear down his reputation. So far as I’m aware, there has been no apology or retraction. But Megan did in fact misrepresent him, and this needs to be addressed. There are so many examples of what she is talking about, I don’t know why she picked someone who is consistently aligned with Biblical truth and encourages discussion and unity (as the name of his channel suggests) to go after.

It boggles my mind and makes me question the rest of her journalistic efforts. Why should I trust her on other things when she blatantly misrepresented or lied about someone? It’s the same kind of game leftists play.

This needs to be addressed. If you don’t believe me go to truth unites and watch his two videos responding to Megan and Shepherds for Sale. It shocked me and I hope that this will get sorted out and that we will actually be able to unite in truth.

Yea, except Gavin Ortlund is anything but a shepherd for sale and is a completely orthodox evangelical protestant. Her smear of him is totally unjust and she should issue a clarification at minimum. But her treatment of him most likely deserves a complete re-writing of the book. Totally untrue and a misrepresentation of good pastor. Shameful.

I am an active participant in my Catholic parish in Tucson, & our pastor’s favorite subject is the madness of Trump. He never discusses abortion, & has instructed our deacons to do the same. I wonder if he could ever fathom (while looking out at parishioners during Mass) that 50% are conservatives.

It’s a shame Megan misleads so many about Gavin Ortlund in her book. Ortlund is a Christian before any political position, more importantly he routinely defends Christianity through powerful apologetics. He will have discussions on Biblical slavery with top atheist scholars to refute the anti biblical sentiment of today. Where has Megan done anything of the sort? Retract your statements Megan, it’s okay to admit you were wrong

It seems to me there may indeed be an infiltration, but lying undermines not only her position but the entire fight against what infilitration actually exists. She should be shamed for her lies.

I have a hard time listening to a woman who has misrepresented Gavin Ortland so badly. Gavin would graciously and charitably have a discussion with you but, instead, you block him on X and misrepresent
him in your book. I’m as conservative a Christian as they come and I may disagree with Gavin about a few things but I know that Jesus calls me to lovingly discuss my concerns with a brother in Christ rather than to take words out of context or slander him in a book. How deceptive and self serving. I pray you will repent for this sin against your brother and reach out to him. He would gladly host you on his show and he would still show you the kind of Christian love and respect that you refuse to show toward him.

For someone who loves Truth Andrew you should reconsider your promotion of this his book and your declaration of how “well researched” it is. I hope you do your homework on this. You will find out for yourself how she misrepresents good and God fearing people who are NOT leftist and NOT sellouts. Despicable how she defames Gavin Ortlund.
