I had a married coworker who was pregnant with her 2nd child. The child was diagnosed with a fatal abnormality. It would not survive. My co-worker's health was endangered while the pregnancy continued. She and her husband, after consultation with their doctors, decided to terminate the pregnancy. Today, they would not have that choice. We are in Florida.
Why is it that only people who cannot bear children are the ones deciding for the rest of us how to make these difficult decisions?

You really just described the frustration most liberals have with many conservatives. Conservatives hold specific values that only seem maleable when it directly affects them. The imposition of the values onto others without consideration of others' needs is the problem. By contrast, most liberals hold the view of personal values. Being pro choice doesn't negate respecting someone for choosing to stay pregnant when you would choose differently.

This reminds me of the pro-life couple who became pro-choice advocates after they learned that her pregnancy would literally kill her and the baby boy was going to be born suffocating during a heart attack.

As a former conservative Christian who went through a similar situation as the woman in this video. I’ve always been pro choice.

I used to be the same way, thinking that “pro-life” meant saving babies and that adoption was the solution. It’s what my parents taught me, so I just went along with it. I always had my reservations, and could never make up my mind if I fully agreed with them. I’ve been fully pro-choice for over 10 years, because I decided that my parents no longer control my beliefs and I am able to think for myself. Pro-choice is the very essence of freedom and human rights. It’s not about killing babies, it’s about protecting reproductive healthcare. 💙🇺🇸

She thinks this makes her look bad, but it really makes her look great. She learned new things, and reached a new conclusion based on what she learned, instead of discarding the new data because it didn't support a previous conclusion. This is exactly how rational people behave. She also had an epiphany about empathy, and started being able to understand the situations of others.

It's great that you came to this realization. Because you are a woman, you realized, wow, if this happened to me I would not want the government controlling what I can and can't do. But MEN like JD Vance are making blanket statements and decisions about women and pregnancy. They will never understand the full scope of circumstances that we face.

For me, personally, i think any reason is valid. Just not wanting to go through with the pregnancy is a valid choice. Nobody should have to follow through with something that psychologically and physically significant if they do not want to and there is a potentially less drastic option possible. It's like no fault divorce - not wanting to be in the marriage should be sufficient reason to be able to leave it.
