What would historians know about Pontius Pilate if the Bible never mentioned him? In this video, we analyze that very question by taking a historical look at the non-biblical sources for Pontius Pilate. This video is part-2 of a 3-part series designed to uncover the truth about this famous biblical figure!

👁 Sources:

✅ The Works of Josephus by William Whiston

✅ The Annals of Imperial Rome (Penguin Classics)

✅ The Works of Philo by C.D. Yonge

It's nice to hear of non-biblical sources for biblical figures. Can't wait for the third part.

Loved it! Great series of videos! I really enjoy hearing about Josephus and Philo in this format. Sometimes I hear scholars talking about them, but to be honest, I usually get lost pretty quickly because I'm not an expert. Your videos explain things so clearly that even someone like me can understand and follow along! I am very grateful! Thanks!

Great video and wonderful series! I have read a few books on Pontius Pilate and I must say, you are hitting all the points in a much more succinct way! Nice work!

I am looking forward to Part 3, this is doing a good deal of cleaning up on Pontius Pilate. There has been a lack of, or dis-information, on this person who has such a significant impact in the Jesus story and the Christian movement overall. 👨‍🎓👍

All I can say is pilate had no choice but to crucify Jesus. He knew very well that the son of God has no sin and is completely perfect in every way, but nevertheless he was pressured by the general public (the jews and others that were shouting 'crucify him!') back then as recorded in the bible.

St. Ignatius of Antioch would not have just gotten it from the gospels. He was literally a disciple of St. John the Apostle and was appointed bishop of Antioch by St. Peter the Apostle. He also personally knew Mary, the Mother of Jesus. So no, he would have gotten information directly from source. Not just Gospel accounts

... this document proves that Jesus existed and... therefore this document must have been forged.

This youtuber is really not bias against Christians.

It was at that point that I changed video and looked for a less biased story of Pontius Pilate

I don't know what the bible states about Procurator Pilate. During my 22 years in the Army I lucked out and had a short tour in Italy. Some people there state that Pilate was a Roman nobleman that had fucked up several times and his posting as Procurator of Judea was the least desirable posting for a nobleman of his status. This was his last chance and he did not want trouble with the Jews. He knew Barrabas was an arch scumbag and that Jesus was a harmless man. But he wanted no trouble with Caiphas. Hence Jews are slurred as Christ killers.

Hello - Jesus had healed the son of Pontius Pilate. Instructions were therefore given for Jesus to be removed from the Cross before He could die. This was an arrangement between the Uncle of Jesus, Joseph of Arimathaea, who was a wonderful herbalist doctor of the day. After three days of extensive treatment and healing, Jesus `rose' and lived to be 112 years of age. Blessings - RevDrD
