*** SOME RECOMMENDED CABLES***
Please note that no one sponsored this video. I recommend these products, as I use them.
As you can see, there are so many options, so be sure to understand these three things:
1. The connector type (ON BOTH ENDS OF THE CABLE YOU WILL BE USING!)
3. The supported power of the cable (if you plan on using it as a charger and not just transferring photos). DON'T GO CHEAP ON THIS ONE. YOU DON'T WANT TO SCREW UP YOUR CAMERA WITH A POORLY-POWERED CABLE.

Once you know this, then here are some cables to consider: (NOTE: This list will be updated)

USB-C connector type cameras (X-T5, etc., most later GFX models, XH models, etc., that support 10Gbps)
(note that this is USB-C to USB-C)

USB-C TO USB-A connector type cameras (X-T3, X-T4, etc., older GFX models, etc. that support 5Gbps)

USB Micro connector types (GFX50S, XT2, X-H1, etc. that support 5Gbps)

YOUR QUIZ: How many times do I toss a USB cable to my left? 😮

Always helpful. It’s going to be a challenge to evaluate all those loose cables sitting in a box to determine what is what. Maddening. Thanks for the insight.

This is a pretty dangerous subject, but you handled it well! My hat is off to you ... and I think I need a drink.

Chris, your videos have been a source of immense joy for me over the years. As someone who works in adult education, I can confidently say that your way of sharing knowledge is not only deeply informative and high-quality but also incredibly entertaining. I often find myself revisiting your videos, even those I’ve watched multiple times, simply because they always lift my spirits. Please keep creating new content. I understand the pressures content creators face, but I urge you not to let that weigh you down. We, your loyal fans, will stand by you, no matter how often you release new videos.

If I could make one request for the near future: I believe that voices like yours, along with those of Omar, Gordon, and Pete, carry significant influence. As we all know, Fujifilm is facing a growing issue with the declining quality of their AF-C performance. It would be fantastic if you could share your thoughts on this.

Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to clear some of this up. I just wish there was a label on the connectors so you could tell what you were holding in your hand. I've ordered so many cables that I have no clue what I have other than the physical connector type.

Ok let's be real, cable discussion is not the most important subject in the world. But your video takes, well boring subject, and make it interesting and relevant to a photographer. If you have been around digital photography for any length of time you have acquired a great number of cables and have asked the questions, what the heck what do and which one is the best for my work flow? Again you have masterly taken these two questions and answered them in a way that cuts through the BS. As usual great work and thanks.

Wow, I now realise that’s a far more complex subject than I thought. At least I know to be more careful when buying new cables. Thanks.

don't knoe if you have an xt30, but using a fast charger, my fuji didn't charged at all...I'm forced to use an old and slow charger adapter 😢

Thank you for the VERY enlightening video!! I haven't been keeping up on the latest tech, so your video was most helpful in understanding the multitude of USB interfaces 🙂

Wonderful video like always Chris! Thank you! I really missed you this days... I just bought the Atomos Shinobi II monitor for my H-X2 camera, (this monitor allows control camera settings and record) and I didn't know why I wasn't able to use that feature with my camera. I thougth that maybe you know... Later I found de compatibility list of the Shinobi II and you can imagine it. Fujifilm is not into the compatibility brands for now... Well, I hope in a future firmware update. It's my first time with an external monitor. Anyway...

Thank you for your content creaton Chris! Greetings from Venezuela!

Puuuhh ... thanks for the overview. A very helpful video. Then, of course, two aspects I need to consider: Connection "on the other side" (i.e. computer, chargers, powerbanks, ...) and "what do I really, really need" (best not always necessary). Last, I need to wade through the deep forest of cables to review what I have in my box and update the name tags where appropriate.

Wow, that was a huge revelation for me and very helpful. I have been less than careful on cord purchases and need to review what I have and clean some things up.
