A London receptionist has been talking about being sent home from work after refusing to wear high heels. Temp worker Nicola Thorp, 27, arrived at finance company PwC to be told she had to wear shoes with a "2in to 4in heel".

I've never worn heels. I'm tall, don't like them. It has never affected my ability to do a job. As long as you're dressed smartly the height of your heels is entirely irrelevant. Was a stipulation to do this in her job description? Would it even be legal to do so?

Yeah this is bullshit, heels should not be mandatory. Heels should be wear only by women that really likes having a high heel and only when they want, definitely not a work condition. This condition should simply not belong in common public space.

So a temp - about the lowest run in the employment ladder, think she should be telling a company about their dress code for front office staff? Good luck getting a job with that attitude. Tell you what Nicola, pile on 10 stone, go apply for a job in a gym reception and tell us how it's unfair that THEY have a weight code.

I agree with her premise, but lady you need to learn to fit the job not expect the job to fit you. There are lots of different places you can work, if you don't like the rules at the site you are talking about keep on walking to another. We live in a culture that is falling apart in an effort to please everyone and quiet the complaint collectors such as yourself. I think heels are just nuts, I can't imagine how hard they are on your feet, but you need to speak to your girlfriends about changing fashion preferences so they are not thought of as important or vital for a certain look. How can a company work trying to please everyone and their likes and dislikes?

I love this women. Sure i like women in heels, i think its the sexiest thing ever. Even scientist with all their science can put a human on the moon but they are far from making anything as sexy as a woman in heels. But having said that, i applaud this woman for standing up against the "rules". A woman is and always will be sexy to a man, its just the law of nature (with or without heels)
