'MEANTOWN BLUES' - Johnny Winter And w/ lyrics

Johnny Winter has the chops of a Guitarisaurus Rex, but his ability to clarify wordage needs some work. I'm pretty sure the lyrics I wrote aren't the real ones... and I mean no disrespect to Mr. Winter. I really like this song from the live album "Johnny Winter And". Highly recommended. Made Loud to be Played Loud! I hope everyone has a good sense of humor. Please enjoy.

Some audio trivia : Johnny is playing on the right channel, and Rick is playing on the left. The engineer that mixed this recording did it right! Just sayin' Sebbah Dyeee!

Well, my mama, she done told me and my papa Don told me my father told me too.
Yes, my mama she done told me and my father Don told me my father told me too
It’s mean old town to be living in by yourself
Well, I worked for the dollar I could not save a lousy, could not save a dime
Yes, I worked for the dollar could not save a lousy, could not save a dime
There ain’t nobody worried and
there ain’t nobody crying
Everybody got their hand out, trying to get a hold of, trying to get some of my cash
Yes, everybody got their hand out trying to get a hold of my hard earned cash
I got a big old box where I keep my money stashed.
So I packed up my suitcase, and I moved on down hit that lonesome Road
Yes, I packed up my suitcase and I, hit that lonesome. I moved on down the road.
Now I’m still trying to make it
Before this mean, town brings me down

…NOT REAL SURE ABOUT THAT VERY LAST LINE

Great guitar pickin, but them words, lordy.
Yep when I listened to this in my car it was on a cassette, and yeah it was cranked so you felt like you were inside the guitar.
Great music, sad he's gone now, but we all gotta go sometime. He made a lot of great music while he was here though.

I would say the lyrics for this go something like, at least for the first verse:

Well my mother she done told me and,
My father done told me,
My father done told me too

chorus: Well it's a mean old

I'd like to know the real lyrics to the whole tune and try and pull off a cover, even though I have nowhere near the chops of a Johnny Winter. Such a great tune. He did a great version at Woodstock, as well as other appearances you can find from 1970 (Sweden and Montreaux). One of my favorite songs of his.

Lyrics aside - the call/ response between Johnny and Rick is among the best on record!- pun intended 😊
