The last 3 weeks, I've been panicking and watching trig, pre-calc, and calc classes - I'm 28 and haven't taken math in over 10 years (Algebra II). This being the first step I need to take in order to begin my WGU journey - I was stressed AF. You have given me a lot of hope here!

Woah, just 4 days? That was fast lol. I'm doing the CS degree too. I'll be hopefully starting in February. I just need to pass calculus to meet the admission requirements. I'll have to look into Sophia since you mentioned it's open book. I haven't touched a math book in at least five years. Good luck! New subscriber.

Quick question was calculus used in this course? Or is it not needed?

Thanks for the tips. started today and got up to Challenge 3.4 100% everything along the way, excited to finish the rest of the course tomorrow. (will update with total hours spent when I finish for those looking for time frames) Update: Took myself longer than I thought to finish out the 2nd half. Total 6 days, about 20 hours total. Did the first 7 units of Pre-calc in Khan Academy first to prep, got tired of precalc and just jumped into Calc and knocked it out. Will add that I took Calc previously about 14 years ago, so some things like derivatives and anti-derivatives clicked quickly. Once you are past Unit 3 it gets easier.

Just a suggestion.... change the neon highlighted colors to muted colors. It's really hard on the eyes to look at in the video.

How many hours did you invest in calculus in those 4 days daily

This does not sound like a good education at all.

Very informative! I'm taking calculus in January and trying to enroll in WGU's CS program too. Could you share your spreadsheet? 🙏

I wouldn’t speed through it. While it’s not necessarily needed for software engineering if you ever decide to get your masters for example it will be helpful to have the fundamentals down as some areas like AI/ML require a solid background in advanced mathematics.

Where can I find that chart? I’ve been using josh madakors excel sheet but it doesn’t have many Sophia courses.

Discrete Math 1 is difficult but Discrete Math 2 is what makes CS majors change to IT majors

Hey, just a quick question. So if I'm considering applying to WGU for Comp-Sci Bachelors and i don't have pre-calc or calc under my belt, can I take the courses on Sophia beforehand and transfer it over?

How did you take the milestones without having to finish the assignments. It won’t let me take the milestones until I finish all of the assignments

Maybe that’s why now it’s impossible to pass Sophia calculus in 5 days. They made it a thick heavy course now that you can’t test each section before completion each section probably because of this video.

Whatever course he took they must have took down and put a much much thicker course

I’m considering speeding through calculus on Sophia, but had a question. Would you suggest actually learning it or would it be more beneficial to just get the credit and look up how to do things later when you run into issues?
I don’t know how much calculus you actually need for the whole degree and don’t want to waste a ton of time learning the subject if all I need for example is Limits.

Hi Alex, how do you manage to take discrete mathmatics? without building your math fundamentals/actually learning calc? Just wondering.
