How to come over the fact my youngest daughter goes no contact days before her second child will be born. Telling me she does love me but stabbing a knife on my back telling me i cannot see my grandson, no app, no phone, no letter, no nothing. The worst part is that i don't know why and she won't tell me, i mis my grandson who is five now the most. It kills me

Sally, I really appreciate your videos and acknowledgment of mothers’ pain. I have been blessed with a reconciliation with my daughter after 5 years of estrangement. I can’t make chicken Parmesan because it was my son’s favorite. So I just stopped making it. I’ll eat it when I’m out if I want it but I don’t have to cook it. That’s my choice. There are many other dishes to cook. My son estranged when he added alcohol to his drug use and started drinking heavily with his fiancé. I don’t blame him and I don’t blame myself anymore, either.

My daughter estranged because I did neglect her during their adolescence. She is absolutely correct and we’ve built a new relationship we’re both happy with. I wish I’d had the awareness and ability to address both of their needs adequately but I didn’t. It’s not always easy and we’re navigating new ways of communicating. It remains apparent and has become apparent to her his life is a continual emergency. At this point she just doesn’t want to inherit responsibility for his safety. Given he has estranged and his father enables him, there is nothing I can do to help him. I can only model “letting go, ” with which I still struggle.

I have been in therapy for a few years and it has changed my perspective completely. I encourage anyone who’s in pain to give therapy a try.

Like when you see a photo of your estranged son's new baby in the arms of yours ex's new wife, on FB, because some anonymous person thought you needed to see that
