Tropical Depression Nine has developed in the central Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center. The depression developed from Invest 98-L.

The depression is expected to reach tropical storm strength and even hurricane strength by early next week. When it reaches tropical storm strength, it will get a name; the next name on this season's list is Hermine (pronounced her-MEEN).

The NHC has placed Florida, including the Tampa Bay area, in the system's cone of uncertainty.

TD Nine is currently about 615 miles east-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica. The system has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving west-northwest at 13 mph.

Well, the current forecast shows a track somewhat the same as Hurricane Charley in 2004, at least until landfall. Up until 12 hours before Charley came ashore, they forecast it to be a Cat 2. It ended up a 145 mph Cat 4.
Before anyone says, "Oh, they're much better at forecasting these days, " go take a look at how well the forecasts for Hurricane Dorian played out, and that was just a few years ago.
When it comes to hurricanes, my best advice is "Hope for the best, but expect the worst." And plan accordingly.

The track is uncertain, but Tampa is the bulls eye as usual. The drum beat marches on.

I live like a hour from Jacksonville I'm going to have a cup of ice tea and watch it go by

Imagine if it nails Tampa as a high end Cat 4, and parallels along Interstate 4 up to Orlando? It would be the costliest natural disaster in history hands down

Sooo... from those floridians that have more hurricane experience than I do... what are the chances of this growing into a cat 3...? Really trying to put off certain preparations if it's not even going to be that bad lol

there wont be a go launch again on Artemis 1, unless they launch her before the storm it because either they gonna spend millions of dollar bringing it back on a hanger, or cleaning up what is left of it after Hurricane aftermath

I don't trust the models at all when it comes to intensity. During the past 10 years the models routinely underestimate intensity. Be prepared.
