I don't care what ANYONE says. Hands down, Jason Shappert's the BEST orator I've ever heard. He speaks slowly, concise, and makes things SO easy and enjoyable to learn.

Wow.. took me 2 mins to learn how to finally use this chart after looking at it for weeks not understanding it. thanks!

sometimes it's not the subject that is hard, it's the one who's teaching it, you just proved my theory there, I spent like three hours with a lot of papers, and you my dude explained it in 2 mins, that's fascinating!!

I’m exhausted having to teach myself after every class. I’m out here like a doofus. THANK YOU SIR!!

This helped me just now when I’m running short on time to calculate my W&B sheet and forgot how to do this. Thank you!

I literally had no idea how to use one of these now I’ll never forget I can’t believe it was that easy

You just explained it in less than two minutes... I have six pages of notes on this as a student pilot. Great summary.

can someone explain this to me. Isnt the metar winds in true and the runway is magnetic.
So if winds are 290 true but say the local variation is -10 wouldn’t you be using the 10 degree difference .
Or if the variation was -17 you would be nearly flying into the wind straight on?

You can also memorize the degree of crosswind based on angle differences and sine values. For ex., if a wind is directly on your wingtip, use 100% of the wind including gusts as your crosswind. If it's 15 degrees ahead or behind your wingtip use 97% of the velocity plus gust. If it's 30 degrees off your wingtip use 87% of the wind plus gust. If it's 45 degrees off your wingtip use 71% of the wind plus gust. If it's 60 degrees off your wingtip use 50% of the wind plus gust. If it's 75 degrees off your wingtip use 26% of the wind plus gust. If it's in between these sine values, you need to wag the value. For example Jaguande asked about the crosswind for a wind 50 degrees off runway heading at 30 kts. With a wind 45 degrees off runway heading use 71% and with one 60 degrees off use 87%. So to make a wag in between those figures average between but toward the 45 degrees off number. So I'd say the crosswind would be about 76 or 77% of the 30 kts, which comes out to about 23 kts. At the same time you get a sine value for crosswind, the cosine value is your headwind, the amount you're slowed down on final by the wind, or if you're landing with a tailwind, which I've done many times, how much faster you are on final due to a tailwind.
15 degrees off runway heading 26% crosswind (include gusts)
30                                          50%
45                                          71%
60                                          87%
75                                          97%
90                                         100%
Most airline jets are limited to a 30 kt crosswind component including gusts.

Can you explain how to read the component when it rotates to the tailwind? e.g. w/v 240/12, runway 36

Great video. What's the trigometric formula so I can have it calculate it in Excel? Please make another video for this. Thanks in advance

What if the wind is 15kts? How do you then find the arc?

I do not understand why the wind comes from 20 degree
