I'm almost finished with med school in Germany. No debt, no student loans. When I'll start to work in about a year, I will earn my salary without having to pay back anything. The whole concept of student loan debt is insane to me tbh

This video bamboozled me. I’ve been shaken to my core and my perception of money will be forever in shambles.

I’m from Poland and I’m going this year to med school and thank God it’s for free in here, when I listen about your education and health system it’s so crazy how much you need to pay for it

I’m so thankful for my doctors, surgeons, cardiologists, radiologists, and anesthesiologists who sacrificed so much and studied so hard to be what they are today. They all saved my life last year and I’m so grateful, beyond words.

Students in Holland complain about that the monthly allowance they get to live on is too low.. Not realizing they basically get their university degrees for (almost) free.

In India you have AIIMS institutes for medical degree and believe it or not, it costs you only 5000 rupees which is approximately 60$!
But they're incredibly difficult to get into though

Now think about the fact that med school and internships are built to drive people into breakdowns and burnout long before they can start making the kind of money that could ever pay off those debts, and any serious physical or mental health issues could completely end your ability to continue that career, even in low stress areas

“We have a shortage of healthcare workers and we can’t figure out why.”

Edit: Irony aside - I feel it’s important to add, that even if there are healthcare workers and doctors in the making, they will just go private as it is much more worth it for them. I can’t blame them. They spend x years and tons of money and they don’t get the pay they deserve from the government.
This inevitably means that if I want to go see a doctor, I too have to go private, otherwise I am on a waiting list for 6+ months. I know this is the case for the majority of European countries, I cannot speak for the rest of the world, but I know this isn’t just an EU problem.

My husband and I are in debt from his medical school years. The best advice we received to lower our debt is to tackle it right away after residency and cut back on material spending. It'll be hard but necessary for our future together.
