why wouldn't they use closed cell foam? it's a better R value. plus, pretty sure that foam is combustible x.x

The added benefit of the coaxial intake-exhaust pipe is that the incoming air supply is preheated by the flue gas. More efficient.

If the pilot shuts off wont gas still flow like there is one going which will fill up the house. Or it probably cuts that off too.
