Okay, I'll explain this one more time.
Please pay attention this time;
The Marie Celeste was carrying a cargo of Alcohol, pure grain alcohol, in Oak barrels, over a thousand of them. There were bound for a port in Northern Italy.
A barrel made of White Oak will hold almost any liquid without leaking, including alcohol.
Red Oak is not a good wood for barrel making because it will leak if filled with alcohol.
All of the barrels on the Marie Celeste were made of White Oak, save two of them.
Those two were made of Red Oak.
When the crew that found her carried her to her destination and unloaded her, they found two barrels, made of Red Oak, that were completely empty. All of the alcohol had leaked out.
The greatest fear in a wooden ship is fire.
A hundred gallons of alcohol leaked into the hold of a wooden ship in a warm sea is a floating time bomb.
When she was found drifting aimlessly the ships hatches were all open and the ships boat was missing. A rope trailed off the stern and was clearly snapped in two.
The crew, smelling the alcohol, opened all the hatches to let the fumes dissipate and all got into the ships boat and trailed behind in case a stray spark set it off.
A rogue wave likely caught the boat, snapped the line and left them adrift, possibly swamped and sunk by the wave.
Any event can be made to seem strange if you leave out the pertinent information.
