If I remember right. The cargo was Alcohol one of the kegs had a leak and they surmised the crew was afraid of an explosion. I personally would rather blow up instead of a slow agonizing death in a "life" boat

the cargo methionine alcohol had three leaking kegs and a Hatch cover had blown off. worried the fumes would acumulate the crew is thought to have taken to the life boat. tied to the ship if things were safe they could record but the rope chafed and broke leaving the life boat behind .

Please. Get rid of those stupid subtitles that flash across the screen. Extremely annoying when trying to appreciate the historical photos. Besides, the narrator is good. If someone doesn't understand English enough to listen to the voice, they sure aren't going to understand the words any better...and folks w/ hearing issues can turn on the subtitles for themselves...

This has happened to quite a few ships. I think I know what happened. 1. There was a serious storm and the Captain called an evac order but they were never found, they either perished in the boats or ended up on the Infamous Skeleton Coast and perished there. 2. They were invaded by a horde of Red Octopus 🐙 and these creatures dragged everyone off the ship and ate them in the water.
