What Organ Donation Can Do

My teenage son had a dental surgery in October 2022 triggering a rare autoimmune disease we didn't know he had (GPA Vasculitis). This caused bleeding in his lungs which ultimately impacted many organs but damaged his lungs to an irreparable point. He recently had a double lung transplant. He has given me permission to share his story ❤️

My daughter Alyssa passed 12/04/2021. She was a donor of her lungs, right and left kidneys, and heart valves.
Doctors also made 145 grafts for oral and orthopedic surgery using Alyssas’s bone.

My Alyssa took her life, but continues to save lives. I’m very proud of her! Hopefully one day I will hear from my daughter’s recipient’s so I know that they are ok. ❤

I was recently told I have 2 "life ending" heart and lung conditions. Ive elected not have any surgical or medication treatments. Ive had an incredible 70 years of life filled climbing mountains, walking across deserts, kayaking in rough winter oceans, meeting remarkable people, etc. and Im content to pass ove, because my loved dogs are gone and i never had children or married because I was busy having adventures, but this young man will never have the opportunities to experience life like I have and that is unbearably sad...😢
So many young people never have the opportunity to live a full life.😢

I'm truly grateful for him and he lives a longggg life. Thank you to the donors (family) that donated so another could live. Thank you😢❤. I too a donor if and when I pass, I want another to have whatever is needed. It's on my driver's license that I am a doner.
