He wasn't trying to be rude. He was confused and had no exposure to it. He was genuinely curious.

I love how the patient understood that he was just curious

It's so cute but also sad how a teenager was more understanding of Dr.Murphy than some adults

In a medical field give your biological gender/sex so the doctors can easily find whats your condition/disease's

He wasn't intentionally misgendering her, he actually doesn't understand and is just truly curious

One time, back when my mum was working in genetic testing, she had a patient that was listed as male on the forms. She ran his tests, and it came up that he had two X chromosomes (they could not test for Y chromosomes at the time because they’re much smaller than X chromosomes, I don’t know if they can test for them now), so my mum diagnosed the guy with Klinefelters syndrome, where the X and Y chromosomes are screwed up so that one has two Xs and a Y (she never met the patient in person, just worked in the lab). It’s usually characterized by some physical deformities and infertility. Turns out, there was something completely different wrong with the guy, he just neglected to mention that has was a trans man and biologically female on the forms. You really have to let people know about that- it put his diagnosis back at least six months.

This is why schools need to teach us to be able to understand peoples tones. Like how Quinn was able to tell that Murphy was genuinely curious and asking questions rather than thinking he was being rude towards her.

I just don't understand why genuine curiousity is so often criticized as rude or worse. No judgement came from Murphy at all in the entire scene.

Edit: holy crap i wasn't expecting so many likes thank you guys

I love this episode because they're all so worried about him getting on her nerves or making her uncomfortable, but she can tell he is just genuinely curious and is totally cool with answering his questions.

I love how the patient was so sweet and she answered all his questions because she knew he wasn’t trying to be rude or anything of the sort. You could tell he was just genuinely curious about it, and we know that he likes to learn new things. If everyone were just as kind when asking anybody questions like this in general, then I feel the world would just be a itty bit better.

No matter what, people who believe in something should not be disrespected, instead people should take the time to kindly ask questions to learn more, rather than being rude or condescending. Everyone can learn new things, and just because somebody believes something different from you does not give you the right to be rude to them or disrespect them.

EDIT: to all y’all trying to act all smart and saying *he in the replies, you are literally proving my point on people not treating others with respect. Don’t waste your valuable time doing something that is negative, instead please go do something positive with your time!🩷🩷✨✨

I have autism and i genuinely do not understand all these sexuality and genders but i see people are happy with being themselves so i think its normal and people should be themselves and have fun in life. It honestly doesnt matter who people are cause we all bleed the same color blood so we can be who we want to be regardless of gender, age, sexuality, disability or anything.

So, realistically, she is a he medically. Respectfully, I would call someone whatever they want to go by. But chromosome wise he has testicular cancer. She is having complications fue to her anatomy. Not her pronouns.

Shaun is just trying to understand bc knowing someone who is trans is not as common as ppl think and its not rude when you're asking real questions.
