This song has such a meaningful message. It’s so sad, but it also covers a serious topic. It’s honestly my favorite unrelased by Melanie. And as an 10 year old who has experienced something like that (online groomed) it’s sad.

This song is powerful. I've suffered from things like the topic at hand, and hearing someone accurately represent it hits hard.

As someone that was heavily s3xually exploited both online and irl, i suffer from hypersexuality now and I'm still a minor, i feel so disgusting that everyone from teachers, cousin, brother, father, "friends", strangers used me and i got used to objectifying myself for attention ever since I was 8.

literally crying listening to this song. Child trafficking is very real and will traumatize and even kill so many innocent children.

This is so confusing, it hurts and makes me feel bad more then see it as a song. I believe Melanie herself said she wasn’t traumatized, so it almost feels like she’s making money off this other then making the song to bring awareness. It makes me wanna throw up

This is very gross, what a weird fantasy to have, she didn't experience this and it shows, it's very inauthentic and weird, she should've kept this one in the notes app

Melanie really needs to stop using these serious topics just for an “aesthetic”. This song is just overall a punch in the face to survivors of this sort of thing, especially since her other songs do the exact same thing(dollhouse, orange juice, tag, your it, etc). Now I can’t speak for much, especially seeing as I haven’t gone through what this song entails, but the glorification and aesthetictization of these strong and sensitive topic is downright disturbing.

so a million men is based off young girls being raped and groomed and all because of the men so the verse "they tore her to pieces and she couldn't comprehend" i think it means, they physically abused and raped her so this and nympholagy from her portals album would matxh bc of the verse "sold to a man who thinks he's the prophecy"which means he was the man she was sold to

Why?
Why did she write this? This isn't spreading awareness about child sex trafficking, it's lingering on it in a weird, overly detailed, voyeuristic way. Amanda Palmer did the same creepy shit with Evelyn/Evelyn. And I see edits with footage from "Pretty Baby", a movie where Brooke Shields was exploited as a child. Disgusting. I hope to god that most of the people liking this are teenagers. Grown women need to stop making a spectacle out of other people's sexual childhood trauma.

Miss Maggie was way too young to understand
Why she got thrown into someone else's hands
Why she woke up to strange men
They tore her to pieces and she couldn't comprehend
Why she was locked up in a basement filled with men
Should've done the school, instead she did them
Don't touch me, I'm fragile
I'm bitter in my heart
Mama sold me for a candy
I was ruined from the start
Why do you have to sell me to those mean old men?
They cut me up in places I don't even understand
It's normalcy to me, but how will my friends understand?
I'm five years old, sleeping with a million men
All grown up and her body has decayed
All those promiscuous games she had to play
Oh, she skipped the jungle, jungle gym phase
She's trying to look at things in a bright way
Sees a light peeking through the end of the hallway
Oh, she's tryin', tryin', tryin' escape
I'm running full force, dear
But it's harder when you're bones
I'm weakened, but I'm flying
Out of this hell hole
Why do you have to sell me to those mean old men?
They cut me up in places I don't even understand
It's normalcy to me, but how will my friends understand?
I'm ten years old, running from a million men
A million men
Finally, the light is coming close
No turning back, run full force
Angels swoop down and grab me
And now I'm safe away from the million men who raised me
Why do you have to sell me to those mean old men?
They cut me up in places I don't even understand
It's normalcy to me, how will my boyfriend understand?
I'm seventeen with a history of a million men
Men, a million men
Million men, a million men
A million, a million men
A million men, a million men
A million, a million men
A million men
