The accessibility of this mod ("it just works") deserves way more praise than it is getting, IMO. You understate that modded Minecraft is a rabbit hole. It is actually seven layers of hell to get stuff to work; having to sleuth for compatible alpha, beta and hot development versions of mods and configs from forum threads; then having to get your game start up and generate a functioning world to invest your time in, only to see it crash and corrupt a few days later.

General audiences (my neighbor's 14 year old kid) are not up for that. They just want to play the game.

Distant Horizons doesn't improve chunk loading capabilities, it just adds LOD into the game, technically chunks isn't even loaded, they're just displayed

Get cloth config if you dont have it installed then bobby can load to a max of 500* chunks without you having to load them

I really do love distant horizons and I really love my complementaryReimagined + Euphoria Shaders - the sad thing is, they dont work together - with bobby it works pretty good so i choose bobby to be my go too

nividium goes good with bobby
but disables when using shaders BUT
you can load like 128 chunks and have good fps

They are different mods
Distant horizons creates basic low quality chunks for out of render chunks

Bobby just keeps chunks loaded even if outside of render

so cant really compare them

if you want distant horizons to render faster you need to enable more gpu and cpu power, which is available in the settings you didn't touch, you should watch your own videos bro
