Outstanding "how-to" video! Almost all youtube french drain videos show the black corrugated flex pipe. I hate that stuff because if you ever get significant root infiltration that blocks flow, then you can forget about "snaking" it to restore an open pipe run. A plumbers snake will make mincemeat out of the corrugated pipe.

Quick question...why don't you tamp down the 3/4 drain rock to prevent settling? For segmented block walls, isn't tamping essential? Keep up the great work! (btw: new subscriber)

This is an excellent video- thank you. You make all good points, and don't spend valuable time talking about unnecessary stuff. I have one question. I have a Unilock mini retaining wall in my flower garden bed that is 65 lineal feet long and in most areas just, two blocks high, except for on the low point where I have 3 blocks stacked, plus a cap. Highest point is 20", but in most cases is less than 10 inches high. DO I NEED A DRAINAGE PIPE BEHIND IT? Soil is primarily compost with a torpedo sand/gravel/clay soil base.

Question: What is the best retaining wall build…precast interlocking brought to site and placed with a crane? If pouring into a mold on site, what is the best PSI of the concrete?

Great video. I was hoping to see how you stripped the plank forms at the back side. It looked pretty tight in the setup video. I expect you never just leave the planks in there, right? Too expensive, waste of good wood, etc... Cheers from japan.

May I ask why the pvp pipe is better than the black flexible ones? And is it necessary to put 1 or 2 drain holes on the side of the wall to release some pressure? Thank you !

Question, I would like to install a retaining wall between my house and neighbors house. Reason being the previous owners of our home dis some jack leg work. They placed a wooden fence up that has rotted out. Dirt constantly flows in our yard which is.
