Toronto police designed a new program to specifically help protect one community. It's just a year old but it's already showing signs of success. Our John Lancaster spent some time with the police's Somali Liason Unit - to find out what's working and what's left to be done.

I think a better job for the police would be to protect the other communities from the Somalian community.

I do not agree with this policy...it smells of special policing for "special" is funding this "feel good" initiative ? Oh that's right the tax payer is funding this "feel good" initiative.  I think the cops should have learned of the extreme limitations of this type of policing from past experiences...the "special task forces" that were developed to target or assist certain communities has never worked in the past and it will not work this time....throwing good money after bad apples does no good in the long run. In a few months this task force will be disbanded and nothing will have changed except the wasted resources that could have been put to better use elsewhere.
