Great hack. So to avoid pressing one button one should freeze to death. Got it

So to summarise, to switch off i-stop function, intelligent people should use the 'off' switch; all others should spend several moments faffing about with the air con unit!

If you unplug the bonnet catch switch it turns it off permanently too without faffing with aircon. And no warning lights

Have 2016 Mazda 3. i-stop will automatically stay/turn off when A/C is on or if thermo fan kicks in on hot day. Or press the button.

Appreciate you creating this video but the single simplest way to stop it activating is to apply less brake pressure when stationary (in D)

“All you gotta do is switch off the AC, don’t worry you don’t gotta switch off the AC”. Is this guy for real??

I haven't tried this one personally, but one forum post had you jam something in the istop button, so it is always pressed down. This is suppose to turn off the istop the moment you start the car. Alternatively there are OBD2 modules you can buy that plug into the OBD2 port and disable istop. Or even button replacement that remembers the last setting the istop button was set to. both of these are on aliexpress.

Added benefit of switching off i-stop is longer battery life if you always drive in town at the cost of fuel. In an hour jam you can get a few extra kms of range with i-stop which adds up over time. For example my cx3 with 28k milage has about 800km extra range from the istop at the cost of a new varta battery for rm800 inc labour from mazda. 800km at 2.05 per liter is rm 1, 640 saved minus the battery is rm840 saved which can be used for the ocassional ron100 fill up as we all know skyactiv engines on high octane petrol really does go zoom zoom . i-stop on > i-stop off jk :D

Instead of switching on the air-conditioning, just simply turn on the light in any setting apart from AUTO mode. That will do the trick, too

If you hold the istop button there is an orange light so when you put it in neutral it doesnt activate

For automatic user, don´t push the brake hard and i-stop won´t engage and you don´t have to push any button.

Do you really want the temperature inside the car to go down to 18 deg C?

Id rather just give that one time push on the istop button.

I have a great idea how to turn i-stop off forever. I removed my hood sensor so the car thinks that the hood is open and i-stop wont turn on ever again ;)

Ok. Turn down 2 knobs, or push 1 button. Thanks.

The forums have been looking for a permanent solution for this. So far the only real hack is to jam something in the button so you don't have to turn it off every time. I wonder if you could pull the switch and jump the wires together.

Is there a way to display which gear we're in while in Automatic Drive mode?
