The value of money doesn't come in flexing expensive cars and private jets, it comes in the ability for you to make choices that make you happy. Living within your means in one of the most liberating things you can do. The problem is most people are living above their means and it gives them no opportunity to save. Somebody making 80 million can lose their money just as fast as somebody making 80,000 if they blow it all on insanely expensive things.

When I finally saved up around 10k last year, you have no idea just how liberating it became. I finally felt like no job could ever make me their mindless slave ever again. Manager is a prick? Fuck you, I can go months without starving and my resume is solid enough that I can get most jobs I could apply for. It also opened up opportunities that I otherwise wouldn't have thought of when I didn't have the money - putting it into investments, spending on hobbies, building a business, etc. If I want to splurge on some food, I can do that without getting upset about it.

The true ease of mind is what I consider wealthy. How much do you need to have so that you aren't stressing out over finances? Figure that out, and save to that point. You will never care about money itself ever again, only what you can do with it.
