It took me a ridiculously long time to get to The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon but once I did I was completely absorbed. This high fantasy is absolutely amazing and I'm so glad that I finally delved in and finished this book!

I loved your point on biases you weren't aware of. Now that I hear it, it was the same for me. If the gender of a character is not mentioned, my head defaults to a man. Hmm.

We have opposite thoughts on this book but I still enjoyed watching your review and am so glad you loved it! Also I love your TARDIS poster alongside you. The sapphic romance was a good inclusion and nice to see. I read this over a month and a week... a buddy read really helped me through :D

I’ve been very curious about reading this! How much explicit violence and sexual content is in this book? Is it easy to skim over and move past? Also is there any witchcraft or spoken spells when it comes to magic or is the magic just there? If that makes sense lol! Thanks!

Shannon’s writing isn’t my favorite style (she reads choppy for me) but the world building, plot, and characters/relationships in this were amazing! And the feminism was unprecedented. Again, amazing.
