I've noticed that women who are attracted to me and ones who are uninterested both tend to scream when I am holding onto one of their ankles as they claw at the ground...

The only fool proof way I've found is to 1. establish yourself as a cool guy, and then 2. wait for them to come to you. So if you meet them in a social situation (e.g work), be a cool guy in the group, maybe chat to them a few times to establish yourself as friendly and approachable, then just leave them well alone. They'll observe you over the coming days, weeks, months, and start initiating conversations with you when/if they become curious about you. Not only does that protect you from the minefield of mixed signals and unintelligible neuroticism, but it also makes you stand out as higher value to them, since you are sending signals of not needing them. It takes longer, and you risk some other guy with good game getting in there and taking their attention away from you, but when/if she finally turns her attentions on you, the fact it was her own choice and she is the one doing the chasing gives you a significantly higher value and it's much easier to read wtf is going on.
