Hey Mike i enjoyed the humor. Wondering how much of it is your personality and how much of it is just acting. Anyway I will update on my little Chicago hardy fig in my next video, I'd be thrilled for you to have a look. it will come out next weekend. happy growing 💚🌿

Hi Mike. Listen, I got some good news for you and anyone else who is interested in Chicago Hardy figs. About 5 - 6 years ago a guy I work with brought me three Chicago Hardy plants. They were less than a foot tall and reminded me of the proverbial "98 pound weaklings". Well, I was having some terraces constructed in the back of my property so the only place I had to plant them was my front yard. So I stuck all three - about a foot and a half apart - in a corner of the yard and hoped for the best. Now I don't have especially great soil, just the basic brown subdivision soil most homes have. One of the plants died [:- ( .... Long story short .... about two years ago the remaining two plants which had grown into one big bush produced over 1000 very tasty figs. My nephew, who LOVES figs, came over to harvest what we thought were the last of that season's crop (about 50 figs). The tree was essentially bare except for a bunch of small green ones which I figured would not ripen. Boy was I wrong! Got another 200 (estimate) edible figs before the trees went dormant for the winter. Now here's the interesting part - I live in central Missouri where we get winters which can get temps well below zero .... I HAVE NEVER COVERED THEM OVER WINTER SINCE THEY WERE GIVEN TO ME. I have given cuttings to my nephew and within two years he and his wife are getting edible figs. They don't winterize them either. This variety appears to be virtually indestructible. If your plant's genetics are anything like mine I think you are going to be amazed by the yields.

Nice Vid!! Funny!! I bought a Chicago Hardy last year from Tractor Supply. It was so small. This year it finally looks like a real fig tree. It’s leafing out and it’s tall. Hopefully next year I get some figs.

Fragile little fig.
If this one doesnt make it id be willing to trade some cuttings once my trees go dormant.
I have a nice Chicago Hardy & LSU Purple and my other smaller trees may be big enough to get some cuttings by the end of the yr.

How long do you keep it in the green house before you plant it outside? Or will you keep it in a big pot and take outside as it.? If you are going to plant it in the ground. How big will you wait for it to get before moving it outside? Thank you,

So how'd it go? I bought one from a nursery the other day. Just curious. I live in the PNW just north of Seattle and was wondering if it's a good fig for this area. Also, what kind of fig do you think is best for the PNW?

Very different from your usual style. A bit heavy on the editing I'm sure, but it was funny. I'd love to see more videos in this style - if you have the patience for the editing needed! :D
