The idea of krakens pulling ships under in a sea of blood...is incredibly badass. GRRM has done it again.

The duality of ice and fire makes sense. Rather than basing his work on the tradition good vs. evil plot, the driver of Ice and Fire (the books) is, well, based on the conflict of ice vs. fire. But why are blood and steel so important? I think they are the two primary means of legitimizing rule in our story. Steel being military might and blood being royalty and inheritance. So Ice, Fire, Blood and Steel encompass all the elements of the story; natural balance and its relation to man’s rule over man.

About how Euron could possibly survive the Battle of Blood himself if he's gonna summon loads of krakens to the surface: when Daenerys miraculously survived stepping into a funeral pyre, she had the godswife Mirri Maz Duur tied to the pyre praying for her life. Euron has a whole posse of priests tied to his ships praying for their lives. Euron has also been to Asshai, where (it seems) the oldest Azor Ahai prophecies originate from. Perhaps Euron found something in ancient scrolls in Asshai that gave him this crazy kraken idea?

So what if after the krakens come to the surface, they are drawn by noise ? Euron has a ship of mutes therefore surviving.

Euron makes the impression he's an atheist but actually is an extreme occultist, a practical sorcerer

9:18 Silly Preston, that's not a sea of blood! It's an artistic flag of Poland!

You mist one more pork reference: "salted here and there with fishing boats". Salting is one of the ways to preserve pork and salted pork was very popular among European sailors for centuries. If your theory holds it's definitely one more reference- Euron looks at the fleet and thinks of it in terms of prepared pork.

It is very popular to predict that Euron will be capturing Oldtown. However, the Hightower army is untouched thus far and the Iron Born suck against armies on land.

This is an older video, but it's also worth pointing out that there are additional parallels to the Battle of Ice. Particularly Stannis' plan to use his inferior numbers to bait the Boltons into attacking him over a frozen lake.

Drowning may be a strong thematic element between the 4 battles.

Thanks Preston. Now GRRM has to re-write that battle and we have to wait another 25 years.

I was listening to the audiobookfor aSoS recently and Salladhor Saan said something about a supposed horn that lord Celtigar had that could summon krakens from the deep.
"...and a magic horn to summon krakens from the deep. Very useful such a horn would be, to pull down Tyroshi and other vexing creatures."
Salla never gets this horn because Davos convinces Stannis not to attack Claw Isle, but the mention of it is in the very chapter that Stannis learns of Balon's death and Euron's attempt at seizing the Seastone Chair.

Blood sacrifices to summon Krakens. Which can then be controlled with telepathy. This is exactly the kind of Preston Jacobs theories I subscribed for.

"Is that wine in the water? Arbor Gold, perhaps?"

"No, it's blood!"

I just noticed the lines 'poison from the entrails of a dying beast' reminds me a lot of two famous scenes in fantasy: The first one being Siegfried slaying the dragon Fafnir and being bathed in his blood and the second (likely inspired by the first) being Túrin Turambar slaying the dragon Glaurung in the Silmarillion, where the poisonous blood of the dying dragon (almost) kills Túrin. I find this to be a striking picture, especially with this line. Just... I don't know, I felt like sharing it.
