Krita vs Photoshop

Both Photoshop and Krita are high-quality applications for digital painting, photo editing, or designing. If you're new to these programs it can be difficult to understand how they work because of the underlying grid system that both use (or in other words, the raster technology).
The two software are very similar, but they also have certain features that set them apart.
We’ll help you decide which one is right for you by comparing them head-to-head!

Alternative title:
Would you like to be constantly robbed by a program that was never meant for painting,
Or would you like a program meant for painting that continuously gets updates and is actually made by artists.

I respect Photoshop as industry standard, but I prefer Krita. I went to Art School, learned Photoshop as it's own course and everything, passed with an A+ and kept up with it since; but Krita is easier to use, and in my honest opinion, the better choice. I can do in Krita what I can do in Photoshop. 5.0 is stellar, and the community has made great strides in customized tools. I will always love Photoshop, but Krita has been my go-to for nearly 2 - 3 years now. I even tried Paint Tool Sai for a hot minute and prefer it over that.

I thought the video was good but the conclusions seemed like a cop out. Basically you said Photoshop is better because everyone uses it instead of pointing out what it does better.

Adobe, for some reason froze my CS3 which I paid for in full on my Mac computer. I hated them for this. So I downloaded Krita for free. At first it was a pain to learn a new digital program having used PS since 1998. But after a few months I liked it. Now I have the new Krita, 5.0, and it is much better than the 4.0 version. The hell with Adobe.

Show, don't tell. I have noticed that you do a lot of narrated commentary on these software's but never show us how these features differ from one another. For example, if you claim the brushes of one software are better than the than demo the difference. I would really love to see how they stack up against one another. ;)

Both are great. The thing with Photoshop is that the things that Krita does now (on Krita 5.0) Photoshop does it since a long time ago and the industry has standardized it. BUT Krita as it is now is enough to rival Photoshop in tools, capabilities, learning curve and overall result capabilities and workflows. AND it's FREE. You're getting a tool that can give Photoshop a run for its money and it's free. I believe that if you are an independent artist (beginner or pro) you can get amazing results with Krita. And if you manage to move into the industry then the transition will be a lot easier than one may think.

Sooner or later Adobe Photoshop will be long forgotten because:-

1. Customers had to pay monthly subscription fee in order to use Photoshop consistently. Sometimes the fee can be expensive.

2. Krita is gaining it's popularity day by day + it's free. Furthermore, krita is updating it's software time by time.

Well, what I think is: Krita absolutely blows Photoshop out of the water with its brushes. Photoshop is marginally better in a number of things people actually don't care about, and most of the time they only serve to clog up its UI. The filtering and tone mapping stuff you showed can be done in Krita, too. Although I agree it's not as intuitive as Photoshop.
There's absolutely no reason to give Adobe monthly payments for that thing. Open source software has been winning the war against proprietary for a long while now. In fact, every time I see someone trying to put proprietary stuff in a project, I just think of a mediocre professional who's going to waste a lot of time and money from the company just to have a third party to support him when he can't do the stuff he was hired for.

Photoshop: great for graphics design work involving photos, text, and maybe some artistic digital touch ups with brushes
Krita: good if you want to focus solely on drawing/painting/sketching, and create finished artworks, with no extra steps (Photoshop default brushes are hard to work with)

Photoshop: payed
Krita: free

Question: Krita can do raw conversions? Or is it merely that you can open raw files in Krita? Thanks!

You forgot Krita is available for Android as well. It has it's bugs, but it is nice to put on a Tab S4 or higher and use the pen. Big enough tablet and its very nice!
