Hypertension is NOT a silent killer. My father displayed symptoms which are: blurred vision, headaches, and his face would turn read when he’s angry, for crying out loud!

If I don't eat enough salt I feel like I'm going to die... seriously I need about 4-8 grams a day. I would like to look at this study. It sounds like the salt is correlated but not the cause of the health issues.

It’s the food manufacturers that are loading our foods with sodium.!!

If you're busy af like me and don't have time to buy fresh veggies all the time, frozen veggies are the way to go.

There has been a drastic change in my BP, bloating etc since ive been monitoring my sodium intake for just 3 weeks! It's normal now. I cut out processed foods like cheese, deli meat, frozen appetizers and meals. Most importantly I stopped eating out. I cook everything now. Buy frozen veggies and fruit. It's ridiculous how much sodium Americans take in not knowing it. Luckily I was able to shift my health in right direction while I'm still young.

I don’t worry about salt BECAUSE I eat real food. Non processed junk food.

Is this because the standard American diet makes the body hold onto sodium? Too much carbs means you are easily holding onto sodium.

how on earth do you "measure" salt? i can take 10 minutes to say "1 more grain", "one less". it's kinda impossible to figure the quantity you eat, especially if some food already is salted on store.

Whole grains? Fruits? She's just parroting what the American Diabetes Association wants her to say. Big red flag there.

Omg I had the chicken sandwich meal and just with that it was over 2300 milagrams! After seeing this it has made me more mindful and made me realize I could be eating way over the amount.

Most active people need a good majority of the salt especially athletes, this study fails to mention activity levels, and fluid intake consumption, all those play a role in how much salt you should be consuming, very active people how consume 1-2 gallons of water per day, need at least 3000-5000mg of salt Per day, half of that will be gone, so your really only left with about 1000-2000mg a day

I disagree. I eat a meat based diet with plenty of sea salt for over two years now. I lost 50 pounds, lost my chronic pain, no longer pre diabetic, improved cognitive function, reduced my blood pressure, became able to exercise daily and increased my cardio fitness to the highest levels of my entire life. At age 52 I feel younger and stronger than ever.

Ever since the FDA was formed we have seen a rise in obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and a plethora of other chronic diseases. Why do we continue to follow their poisonous advice?

She's exactly right I was just eating a high sodium meal and my body felt like it was about to pass out and I fell to the floor and I remember I did have some electrolytes earlier

Most restaurant food in general is processed, unless they state otherwise.

A young Bruce Lee's advice on diets was, "try to avoid foods that can be handed to you thru the car window".
