I have been feeling like this recently. It feels like since I've adopted the Ace label, I have _allowed_ myself to feel a certain way about people, because I know it has nothing to do with wanting to _do_ anything in my case.

My personal rule is: Use a label as long as it's helpful. I can try something and move on if it doesn't help or if it stops helping. I'm also allowed to use as many (or few) labels as I want/need

I admit, I use Ace but I'm not if I really am Ace or if it's trauma. I don't remember ever really feeling sexual desire with someone, but I get sexual desire for myself and sometimes want someone too. I'm unsure if it's because of other things or not though. But it does help me understand the situation a bit better.

Yup. It’s so much easier to say that my boyfriend is Ace, rather than go on and explain he is Aegosexual and homoromantique and what that implies.

Edit: In particular when people are not that interested in learning about it.

to me it's more non-normative experience of sexuality not in terms of gender or behavior (how is the person sexual) but in terms of attraction and desire and libido and just "how sexual" someone is. i also personally don't have a clear enough sense of what sexual attraction is to confidently separate it from desire, so it all seems within the realm
