Plastic Pollution

Plastics are durable, light and versatile. However, they take up to 400 years to decompose. This will affect people’s lives for the next 16 generations.

Our excessive use of plastics is impacting ocean health and biodiversity. By 2050, there could be more plastics in the ocean than fish by weight.

My boyfriend and I have started cleaning up beaches recently and the amount of plastic we found was unbelievable and upsetting. Therefore we decided to both open an Instagram account and a Youtube channel to try to increase people's awareness about this problem and show them the whole process of cleaning up. I have made 2 Presentations about that at school in 2 different languages. Such an important topic! People really need to pay more attention on it. Glad there are a few people already working on projects trying to clean the sea up at least a bit but more important is that people stop wasting resources and make them get their way in the sea in the first place.

Plastic is now on our ecosystem and in our gut.. I don't buy/avoid plastic as much as I can but all these seems soo miniscule in front of the mountain of garbage. I wish more and more people stop saying no to plastic, if company want to sell their products they are going to find a way to it and that's just natural.

I'm only 14 years old and I've just noticed how much things I do to help our planet.
I do:
1.litter picking
2.use a metal straw
3.use a bamboo lunch box
4.reuse 90% of my recycling
5.compast
6.have my own garden to look after(I've basically claimed my back yard aha)
7.i have birdfeeder sand bird baths
8.have reusable cloth bags
9.buy 2nd hand when can(tbh most if the time it is cheaper and since I only get money at the end of the month it is the best way:)
10.i make my own paper
11.have a hedgehog house
12.planted 17 trees with my bff
13.only wash clothes when I need to
14.help charities by giving charities most of my money at the end of the month(the charity's I support are coolearth-help the rainforest, WWF-helping animals and I know it isnt environment based but cancer research-help cancer patients they've helped some of my relatives through ther hard times so I support them for that. )
15.have loads of indoor plants
16when I can buy from my local eco store
17.walk most places
18.use buses very rarely



If you are watching this video coz of school. Please take this into account everything this video says it is really important and it is a world wide problem. Our world is dying and we need to act fast to stop it. Our generation is dying because of our actions and I dont like that. Please I'm begging you do your part even if it's small you are helping the our generation get the world we love and deserve back to full health once again

we need to stop using single use plastics and REDUCE REUSE AND RECYCLE . WE CAN ALSO GO A STEP FUTHER AND PICK UP LITTER/PLASTIC WHERE EVER WE GO BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN NOT USING PLASIC FOR OVER A YEAR AND IF EVERYONE DID THIS IT WOULD MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE .

We use plastic straws whenever we buy any drink and we take plastic knives whenever we buy a cake to celebrate someone's birthday. The problem is that after using we throw it which causes pollution when a lot of people does this. So let's start an awareness to aware people not to use plastic straws and instead buy paper straws and we will refuse knives whenever we will buy cakes. I won't be surprised if no one

in korea, a lot of plastics have been using to pack up food. I'm so frustrated when people use plastics. Please use your containers to pack food to go.

Of all the problems we face today, this is the one that I find most disturbing. We've have this wonderful planet with its amazing self sustaining ecosystem, and a sun that miraculously can sustain it for billions of years, and humans are trashing it. There should be some serious laws around the collection and ordered disposal of plastic and a diminution of its use. In short, it's high time humans started cleaning up after themselves. And yet even today I could go out and buy a plastic product that I know will start to decompose into hundreds of pieces in 6 months. While there are some that care, we need to have a universally shared consciousness that ALL plastic needs to be corralled and controlled at any cost.

In my secondary school a lady came to talk about recycling. The teenage students said it is so boring & kept saying 'stop talking about this stupid environment!' I was very upset with this.
