UN Plastic Pollution Treaty Hopes to Cut Waste

Humans produce about 500 million tons of plastic waste every year. The United Nations is hoping to reduce that number. By focusing on recycling, reusing, and finding different materials, the UN says its plan could reduce plastic waste by 80% by 2040. Rwanda and Norway are leading coalitions to forge a treaty that limits the production of new plastics. The United States, Saudi Arabia and China would prefer the treaty to scale up recycling, not take down production.

Or maybe the corporations could go back to 100% recyclable glass bottles instead of one-time-use plastic bottles that go wasted to landfills. Instead of holding these companies accountable they’re just going to impose more taxes and regulations on normal citizens instead of attacking the problem at the source

It’s most important to just reduce plastic production. Recycling and reusing doesn’t help, they still produce micro plastics

Both direction needed reduce usage by using alternatives without increasing costs and recycle what exists

how about we use less plastics and more glass and cans for some of the stuff as well as increase real recycling as some seem to just throw it into the landfills right from the trucks that is to recycle them.
