InDesign 10: Using the Automated Table of Contents Layout Tool

If you're working on a large book, and there are lots of sections, you most certainly do not want to be manually going through and typing out the table of contents. Thankfully, InDesign has a layout function that makes this automatic based on paragraph styles - however, it does require some careful planning of your Paragraph and Character Style designs, and depending on the situation, there are a couple of different ways to use it. This is a pretty generic design that only has type in the layout, and I go through the various steps to use Paragprah Styles and Character Styles to generate your Table of Contents automatically, and keep it synchronized with your book if / when you need to re-order pages or sometimes entire sections.
