A few corrections:
I missed the falcon heavy mission taking the initial components of gateway to the moon so that is an 8th contract. I also did not mean to say that these were all nasa contracts, they are not!

I hear Amazon is having a sale on 30 foot ladders. You can pick one up really cheap.

This is great news for SpaceX and the space community in general.

4 astronauts on the moon for a whole week. that would result in things we've never seen before, we'll be seeing something truly different on these missions and I don't think many people have realised it yet

Way to go, SpaceX 😁 Edit: And seriously... of course Moon before Mars. Let’s walk before we run.

It's going to be kind of hard to look at Starship docked to the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway and wrap your head around the fact that the little skinny lumpy thing is the support craft and the big smooth round one is the lander.

When pros outweigh the cons. That's nice to hear.

We don't know nearly enough about each system to tell which one is the best but Starship has one advantage : it's freakin' inspiring. All the other landers just don't do it for me. Starship is the only one that looks like a clear evolution from 1960's hardware even if you know nothing about space technology.

Best news I heard in 2 years! Better still is that I called it 14 months ago.

A bitter personal blow for Jeff. But Space X was impossible to catch up with their successes in space while Jeff only made small hops.

Excellent video and very informative! Truly, I wasn't expecting Starship. But Artemis is also supposed to be a stepping stone for Mars and Starship is the system that's most suited for it.

Great news, saw NASA's 1st. OK, sorry Dynetics, NOT sorry, lobby lander, GO SpaceX!!

It's a very bold move from NASA. Lunar Starship is way out there in terms of its design and scope. But if it works it's really gonna push the possibility of a lunar base into high gear.

I'm just glad Blue Origin's death ladder didn't win

so starship is launching the lander? but artemis is launching orion? i'm not sure i understood correctly but if it were up to me i would just forget about artemis because it's 400+ million per launch IIRC, so basically 6 or 7 launches and you just burnt through the 3 billion, spaceX would make 200 starship launches for the price of 1 artemis launch

I was scared that the death ladder will win

Loved the video format! I was trying to explain why SpaceX was chosen to a friend (who isn't much of a space nerd), without much success. Just sent them a link to this video, and they seemed to grasp the concept. Kudos to you on your science communication skills! Keep it up!

Makes sense, considering they have already successfully demonstrated:
- Superheavy booster
- in-orbit refueling
- lunar starship's secondary engines (the ones up top for the actual landing)
- extremely reliable raptor engines

And methane engines are just perfect for in-situ resource utilisation on the moon, considering all the CO2 in the lunar atmosphere.

It's obvious that this selection was not financial at all, but purely due to the brilliant engineering of SpaceX.

Very cool and still pretty high level of condensed and well presented information. Thank you so much! Your way of telling the story is really sufficient even without big pics and animations at hand.😎

“If you’re one of those people that’s ‘Mars First, ’ well too bad.” LOL. Exactly!
