1. The city was way more magnificent after the building projects of Justinian's which were after the nika.
2. The city declined for a 200-300 years but it has its revival till the 4th crusade when lots of new magnificent buildings were build

Im a Glaswegian. I think my city was founded on the principle of being like Constantinople became AFTER its Blues and Green.

This is why everyone who says the "Dark ages werent actually dark" are wrong. Constantinople peaked around Antiquity, was inferior to Rome, and yet was still considered the greatest European city by lightyears during the Middle Ages.
