Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson are feeling the Dern! Their good friend Laura Dern is here, and the guys are talking to her about how she fell in love with acting as a child, writing a book with her mom, the time a panicked Woody wanted to dial her for acting advice, and how she and her mom made history with their respective Oscar nominations (and losses). Bonus: Laura’s masterclass in deflecting a compliment.

ABOUT WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson are total opposites with an unbreakable bond since meeting on the hit sitcom “Cheers.” But after that show wrapped, life took them in different directions, and they missed each other. This podcast is a chance to reconnect, both with each other and the amazing friends they’ve each met over the decades, like Will Arnett, Dax Shepard, Jane Fonda, Mary Steenburgen, José Andrés, Conan O'Brien, and more - that is, when Ted can get a hold of Woody! Join them as they dig beyond the career highlights and into the stuff of life that makes us who we are. Like the title says, this is a place to be known.

I have met dozens upon dozens of celebrities and my all-time favorite is Laura. I worked for a furniture moving company and she was moving from the Hollywood Hills to a new location (non-disclosure agreement). She was simply charming. First thing we moved into the new place was a large couch. We carry it through the front door and the interior decorator was not yet sure sure where she wanted this piece as we held it waiting to bring it into the front room with a sunken floor. Laura was attentively watching us stand there slightly straining to keep the couch suspended. Laura noticed the tattoo on my leg and asked me about it. I told there's an extensive story and she immediately patted the spot next to her and invited me to sit and discuss. The interior decorator was staring daggers like "don't you dare". I said we were busy working but I would be happy to regale at the end of the day. She made sure we were hydrated and not uncomfortable all day. Quick with a joke while having a clear vision how she wanted warmth and friendliness in the house. Eight hours later our day was done. She made the effort to track down this odd furniture guy (now an archaeologist) and have him tell the tattoo story. So interested, so sincere. She made me feel welcome and familiar. She is one that looked at everyone else as friends, as kind caring cohorts, as desired guests. Of all people on this world Laura is one with whom I wish to hang out. Cool peeps.

Every time I tune into one of these, outside my Conan comedy comfort zone, I'm very impressed. Loved the Eric Andre interview, and this one's great too! There's a warmth and sincerity here that's all too rare these days, everyone's always so jovial and willing to share. Great stuff!

As for Laura Dern, Blue Velvet has long been on my short list of all time great films. Scary as hell, plus very weird? Yes!

The only problem with this podcast is that it makes me a little sad that Ted and Woody aren’t my friends 🫶🏼 loving every episode

Ted Danson showed the genuine kindness out of this strong woman from jurassic park perfectly. This is a merit that not only every host, but every person with a person they care should have. Truly a different but highly inspirational interviewer with conan.

Woody is so cool. This makes sense the good people are around each other. Thanks Tedward. Everybody knows you liked that Whoopie Pie. Hey, I still love Whoopie. She might do well on her own show. Or with Ted. Why not? I want to see more Woody and Laura Dern movies. Notice how they like real scripts?
