I sold a gun because of the lower income in my family. I bought another gun, but point is some of us can only afford one or maybe two firearms.

Here in Florida all we have to do is verify that the buyer is a state resident. We don't have to keep any records.

1st rule of selling guns: Do not sell any of your guns

They always say that a little holster wear doesn't matter when it comes to 1911s. Then you take them to trade and it's condition, condition, condition. I'm talking colt lightweight commander, Springfield ronin lightweight commander 45s. I took a couple in to buy a 2800.00 1911 and even though I had never carried one, and only put 24rds through the other, only offered me 1500.00 for both of them. Needless to say I'll keep them and save my penny's for the other one.

I traded more guns then I ever bought in life.
I don't condone gun records and I refuse to help the government do such.

Do not ever keep records. Do not ever give your license to a private party (non ffl) you are buying a gun from. This is crazy advice. Most of my firearms transactions are between family and friends, I sell some and give away others. The guns I have sold or given away have been to people who are unfortunately deceased now. I am not responsible for any weapon or actions taken by weapon holder for a gun I do not own.

It's just funny how in America where there is no gun registry the government seems to know a lot about who owns what guns

The most important rule of selling a gun is DON"T!!!
(You will always live to regret it.)
Flashback to a 70's Winchester "Trapper" Carbine in 30-30 I sold to a friend of mine.
When I trade guns, I do it thru an FFL In Texas.
If I was to sell/trade to a private seller, I want to see a Texas LTC permit.
And I fill out a bill of sale in duplicate.
I give away more guns to family members than sell to strangers.
A couple of S&W J-frames to my daughter-in-law and her dad.

I don’t keep records for one reason and one reason only. Every gun the government can’t find make us that much more free in the end.

To those who are against keeping personal records of the purchase & sale of your guns, at least I can show my wife when I bought a gun that she doesn't remember authorizing.
It reduces the arguments to almost nothing.
No man tells me what to do but She Who Lets Me Live With Her has a special power that I cannot resist.
She makes damn good biscuits.

Bought, sold & traded over the decades. Rule #1 Never talk to the police without an attorney. Rule #2 Don't do the governments job for them.

Keeping records just makes a defacto registry.

Just joined the USCCA this past weekend. I absolutely love all the training you can get online. I'm signing my wife and myself up for as much combat, self defense and mass shooting courses as I can with our local CC instructor as well. Definitely advise anyone who CC's to get a USCCA Elite membership, even at the entry level if you can.. you won't regret it.

I know of a guy who sold a gun, w/paperwork. After he sold it, the gun was used to rob a bank. When the feds came to his door, he had the info on the guy he sold it to.

This was very helpful. I'm selling all of my guns for reasons that is my business and this gives me a lot to think about.

In Oklahoma the resale of a firearm doesn’t have to be registered. I bought a 45 auto from a private person. He was going to report the sale so I told to sell it without a buyers name. He thought that strange so he contacted his lawyer. Who told him never register the name of a buyer of a second gun. Oklahoma is where this happened. It may not be the same where you live
