Choosing Between SN1/SN2/E1/E2 Mechanisms

This is it! This is what you've been freaking out about in class! How the hell do you choose the mechanism that's gonna happen? Is it SN2, SN1, E2, or E1? Woe is you, what will you do. Why not listen to Professor Dave? He's got the hottest chemistry tips in town. That cute boy or girl in class will be so impressed when you apply what you've learned here and have all the answers at the next lecture. Don't worry, I won't tell. But you should, I need the promo.

Check out "Is This Wi-Fi Organic?", my book on disarming pseudoscience!

How can 18 minutes of explanation be more helpful and clear than one entire semester of my teacher explanation?
Thanks for this lesson Dave.

"Mom, why is my sister's name Rose?"

"Because your father loves roses"

"Thanks mom"

"No problem, Professor Dave"

very simple explanations of how to narrow it down thinking like a student! Thanks professor dave, the cute girl in my class will be so impressed!.

P.S. good way to remember which temperature favors the substitutions or eliminations....if it is a low temperature and you are cold you would want to SUBSTITUTE your wardrobe for something better...if it is too hot and you will want to ELIMINATE clothing to cool off.

Math, chem, astronomy, Italian, bio, and anatomy among other things. You've got a helluva melon on your shoulders. Thank you so much for saving my grades, especially during a time when in-person classes aren't a thing!

A memory trick for the temperatures:

Think of "sub-zero temperatures" to remember that substitution occurs at cold temperatures

man this is so comfortable to watch. It´s like smoking pot but instead of smoking you study and instead of pot it´s chemistry.

I've watched several of these series now on YT, and I must say that this one has been the most helpful in understanding these mechanisms! Thank you, professor Dave! You rock!

This is good. To the point and not too long. A more challenging subject in chemistry, yet tackled in a pleasant setting. Keep up the good work.
